Technical What did you do with your car today? * NEW*

  1. Picked up this '58 283. Came out of a Biscayne with 26000 on the odometer. Drove the 58 around a few days and then pulled this out replacing it with a stroker engine. This is now going over to Dave G in NY for one of his projects

Finally got around to installing the new battery!!

Key in the ignition, turn, and....... nothin', not even a token grunt from the starter.

Now I gotta start tracing wires and connections.

  21. Well today I had a previous engagement.

Now yesterday I jumped into the coupe. It actually was not my intention at all. I was actually going to fill the truck up with gas. Gawd knows why but instead of jumping in the truck I flung the door open on the coupe and jumped in. I was sat all the way in the seat before it dawned on me that I was in the wrong vehicle. Glad I did not close the door. I do not have window cranks or door handles installed yet. I would have been there a while.

Guess my next trick better be window cranks and door handles. :D

So last Thursday I at last managed to get an appointment to do the inspection and a friend came by with trader plates so I could drive the car to the test station. Then he tells me the test guy called him and told him his father was hospitalized so no testing today... Because we had the trade plates we thought we might as well drive the car a few miles in order to make sure everything works. So we go out and the brakes still pull to one side. Well the test station is not too far away so we thought we'll give them a visit to see whether the tester is back or whether his mechanic could do it - he could not as he isn't qualified but was nice enough to let me put the car on the rollers to check the brakes, and immediately it became clear I would not pass because the front left brake isn't working, even after trying to adjust it once more. So the only thing left to do was put the car back in the barn till I could look at it properly. Drove back and got lucky when the top radiator hose moved and water started pouring out but we caught in time. But then I even got luckier because, well, I think you can see in the pics... The guy I bought the car from being a stingy c___t overhauled the right hand side, but only changed the brake hose on the left. No, it never leaked until today. Yes, the car still has the original single circuit system - a few miles more and I'd have been left with the emergency brake and the g/box to slow me down... Called Vienna's only speed shop and it should have the brake cylinders in stock so hopefully on Monday I'll get them plus shoes and get everything done on Tuesday which is a holiday here in Austria.

At the point in the 32 Tudor shakedown that it’s time to start fine tuning the shift points on the newly rebuilt 200-4r. Don’t know why but I wanted to try a KC valve body on this one to go with the 430+ hp engine. Good thing the sedan is ass heavy.
Psyching myself up for a few dexron showers, but have a few governors trimmed up with the little weight’s spring pinned. Play time…..

  26. Welded on our '47s hood a little, tried to figure how to secure the top of the windlace without removing the dash, and cut some mat for the rocker; but found a scissors was the wrong tool. Going to try a razor next, or maybe have to find a different material. IMG20230809164137.jpg IMG20230810141417.jpg IMG20230810141405.jpg

  30. Mocked up brake lines off the master cylinder, ran lines on the rear and threw a mechanical fan on instead of the electric.
