  5. Just make sure that everyone testing has the browser window opened to fill the screen. If you don't see the olive green on each side, stretch it out by dragging the right lower corner open. Then try the arrow.
Ryan, you keep saying that you can wait a year, well us oldtimers will tell you that you don't have time to lose. If you can make your site better, you need to go for it and everyone will catch up.
Do it now, time is a wastin'!

Most probably, of the 17% well over half of them will either resize there existing monitor settings, costing nothing, or use it as an excuse to bring there systems right into the 90's.
"But Honey, . . . I have to get a better monitor for the sake of the HAMB"
And think of how much better their porn will look:D

I realized earlier this year that changing the resolution cleared up the problems I was having with text running off the right side on my Mac (curiously, the HAMB was the only site I ever had a problem on)

    Whole arrow for me!!!

  10. I would guess that those that don't have the capability to see it now by resizing their current monitor will be in the same boat a year from now unless they have a reason to upgrade. This would be a reason.

Yep, on the money. Got another third to spare. Widescreeners, and maybe others, who find that when they open new pics they open in a smaller window (Terry?) could download

    It's free, which is good............!

  16. Go for it Ryan, you haven't been wrong yet. I'll catch up. Now if I can just figure out why my attach files box does nothing when I click on it I'll be able to post pictures again. Did something change a couple of weeks agao? I used to have a manage attachments box that worked fine.

Expand it! More features! I'm all for it. The HAMB is the best place on the web and getting better.

    Do it Ryan!

High res monitors are $20 a pop in the surplus electronics stores and flat panels cost less than CRTs did a few years ago.

Besides, i always felt funny typing a reply in these narrow confines we have now. :)

I z'd the arrow so it would fit my screen. Honestly though, the current sizing is fine and it would suck for the 17%ers to hassle with scrolling. Wait a year if ya can.

Can it wait till April 16th?

That'll be when "we" know if the IRS took our new computer again, like they did last year. :(

Just curious how you come about the knowledge of 17%. What makes me wonder about this is even though I run both my home and work screens at 1600 x 1200, my browser window is never wide enough to take up the whole screen -- very typical of Mac users and a decent percentage of Windows users who have larger displays. Just wondering if this would skew your numbers a bit?

And for that matter, is the new feature something a user could "turn off" in their HAMB control panel if they don't like horizontal scrolling?

EDIT: you'd probably want it to be something the "advanced" people woould "turn on" rather than the other way around... assuming it woudn't affect the actual content that people post.

Ryan...let this be your mantra..."You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time...but...you cannot please all of the people all of the time."

    And 17 % is such a small percentage of a 100%...

Can you set it up so that the folks who can't run the higher resolutions can choose a version that is fixed at 800X600 and others can get something bigger? Another board I am on is set up this way. Of course I have no idea what the new features are, or if they would be compatible with that sort of setup.

I agree with the other poster. Most folks who are still running 640X480 or 800X600 are probably not going to change until someone gives them a reason to. You could be that someone...
