Wondering which fan mounted generator you guys running the early Edelbrock Regular intake were using? As you can see this one leaves no room for belt adjustment? Thanks fellas! 20230723_162734.jpg

Carb spacer's or a shorter belt, maybe both, are the solutions that come to mind...

There was a thread not long ago showing off set generator bracket’s that bolt off the head if I remember correctly? I just can’t find it.

Maybe one of Bob Drakes carb spacers would be just right.

To my knowledge this unit was designed to work with an up to 48 generator. Maybe I’m wrong? It’s hard to tell from your photo angle how much clearance there is top and bottom. What’s the story on the generator? The case looks long. A 2 brush (case only) should measure 6”.

Yes sir, around six inches. 1940 - 48 generator? Maybe 1/4" to bottom of carb. 20230723_215920.jpg

Have you mounted it on an engine yet? To make sure the pulley lines up?

I have an early tall Weiand, and it required a spacer to make the pulley line up. And providing more clearance from the carb.

Bolt it up to your engine (with gasket) put a gasket under that carb base and play around with some belt lengths. Also, make sure that pulley is tight and has the proper clip.

I'm thinking I'll have to force on the shortest possible belt and hope there's enough room to adjust the slack out before hitting the bottom of the carb? The pulley is threaded and screws on the end of the shaft. Not seeing any place for a clip?

I’d go with Alchemy’s suggestion and see where the belt lineup is. Yes, there should be a groove for a special clip at the end of the armature.

Not seeing a clip groove? Only threads? 20230724_110757.jpg

How about a cut and weld on the bracket you have now to offset it to the side for clearance? Or are you going to run a fan on the pulley?

Then only option is carb spacers, or a different generator.

No, but I was able to contact a gentleman that is currently running the Edelbrock regular intake. It doesn't appear he had any type spacer and he never mentioned having any belt alignment issues? I've ran Offys and Thickstuns and haven't encountered any problems. May depend on the generator? That what I was trying to find out.

My tall Weiand was supposedly produced in 1939, making it an early speed part. I have used a 40 generator front plate and a 48 front plate. Both required a spacer to line up the generator properly.

I thought your type of Edelbrock was produced rather early too, so maybe it might need a similar spacer.

Using a 3 brush generator converted to 12V and using a fun products regulator that has the appearance of the original cutout. It's tight but clears the 97 on the Edelbrock regular tall intake. This is in my 32 roadster and also using an original 32 fan. All clears and all belt pulleys line up.

I believe the 2 brush generator is slightly longer.

3 brush mounted is 5 \ 8 inch shorter than the two.

My 1929 roadster 59A flathead Edelbrock Regular intake with Stromberg 48 carburetors and 1948 generator that was chrome plated and converted to 12 volts. Just enough room to mount the generator and the belt lines up perfectly with the water pumps with no spacers or shims. Have you tried to mount the intake in a car?
