No such thing as an inexpensive Craigslist car. No longer any such thing as an inexpensive project car fitting our guidelines. I see Falcons that I used to pick up for less than $500 going for ten thousand or more...

  2. I’ll back you Anthony, the Lincoln is stored inside, looks like someone loved it at one time. Crawl under it, tally up the parts, seat looks reasonable, door looks like it fits, offer 4 grand and see how the story unfolds. It would be unique, good candidate for a carson type top, likely lots of room for an engine, better than money in the bank.

But it would make a cool cruiser.

There are a lot of project cars showing up on FB market place right now. Some are very reasonably priced. The current economy must be taking its hit on peoples dreams.

I know I am not at a place I would want to take on any kind of built right now. Even if it was a great deal, I know I would be sitting on it, hoping things turn around so I could build it in a few years. I'm not getting any younger, so the prospect of sitting on something hoping things will get better in a few years, just doesn't make much sense to me.

All that said, if that ONE car would turn up, in great condition (for the parts I would use), at a give a way price, I might be forced to drag it home.

I could hear my wife already "Just one more 'last car' eh? Won't this one be the 4th last car?" and she would be laughing.

With todays costs especially if you can’t do a lot yourself rebuilding or making a hot rod out of a car like the 46 Merc is almost cost prohibitive. Interiors are Mexican blankets, chrome and trim are painted, and suede paint (flat primer) seams more prevalent.
At $100-150/hr to get work done and young guy has dreams but cars are becoming the back burner to eating and paying normal bills.
If you don’t have a good paying job it’s just getting harder..

  11. All it needs is cleaned up a little and some go and whoa.
    That’s a super easy cruiser.
doing that with a 51 merc now. Parts have been cheap and ezy to find so far.

I drove one of these as a teenager on a local farm here in Oregon and was suprised to find it was a 427. The 4-speed vertical shifter made it interesting to drive.

Re: the '37 Pontiac tail lights; they are stock. I owned a '37 for a number of years and a good chum
has one. Same tail lights. I even googled it just to make sure there is no difference south of the border.
Just saying, not trying to bust you balls.

My sincere apologies. I started on the last page and thought you were referring to the grey Pontiac at the top of the page. A case of putting mouth in gear before engaging brain. Again, sorry 'bout that.

Not cheap, but the cheapest 40 convertible I’ve ever seen for sale. Don’t have space to store or I’d bring it home. 29EC13BA-F3EA-4536-8202-92115796CC7E.png 29EC13BA-F3EA-4536-8202-92115796CC7E.png

I agree. A lot of these examples are either not that cheap, or need way too much. But that one actually looks like a good one, a great start for someone.

  24. That price: $2065 sounds like a scam to me. Lots of scams I’ve seen use odd dollar amounts…

  25. But then again, if it comes with that quality tool box in the first picture, I might be tempted!

Not bad if you want a 4 door sedan. A business coupe (2 door with no back seat), or a club coupe (2 door with a back seat) would easily double that price in rust bucket condition.
