It has surprised a lot of people down here. I was coming home from a little cruise-in one night and one of the new Nissan sports cars pulled up side of me at a redlight. I could see he was checking the car out and figured that he would hammer it when the light changed. Sure enough, he did. I put the pedal to the floor and when I shifted into second, I was probably four car lengths ahead of him. I backed off and he passed me and never even looked at the car again. Like I mentioned in one of the previous post, it will smoke my Henry J with a 440 in it for the eighth mile. After that he can move over and let me pass
If you get a chance I am really intersted in what it acctually weighs.... also what trans and rear are you running??? My goal was to get under 1800lbs with mine, the motor only weighs 370lbs dry so it should be easy to get it down in that range with a little weight management.. a t5 and a small rearend...
It's running a 373 rear out of an s-10 and a 350 turbo tranny. Here are some pics of it after it was complete.
That's sharp and very creative... , I want to use a cross flow setup, intercooler and mount the turbo down low,, trying to run a full hood...,, right now we are playing with either mech injection off the midget we got the motor from, or the newer megga squirt which is cheep for efi.... turbo's off a 2.8l or 3l nissan turbo and a custom manifold..... when I get done I will post some pix....
Hi, That's a great rod, very sexy!!! It's the S-10 guy again: For a non turbo setup,(in my S-10) can I just use the factory cast iron marine manifold?
Hehe, those engines are badass, they are very plentyfull in small watercraft, and are pretty cheap to. The blocks are aluminum if i recall, its been a while since ive seen one. There rated at 180hp stock.. =)
Engine mounts: What do I do for those? I have the 2.2 and 4L60E being pulled out of my truck. It turns out to be a 1996 truck, my wife swiped my 2003. Anyhoo, what engine mount set would I use and where would I get one? How much?
That is a sweet ride! You are running a draw-through turbo setup instaed of a blow-through? VeryInteresting. I am building up an NA 4-banger and need a home for it... that might be along the lines of what I'm looking for
Well everyone, here is an update on my project: 1996 S-10 extended cab, 2.2 & 4L60E is out, along with the gas tank and radiator. A 3.0 Mercruiser long block is on it's way and I have a heavy duty 700R4 from G-Men Transmissions. Clifford intake, Edelbrock 500cfm 4bbl. carb, Banks stainless 2.5 Jeep header, 1-wire HEI distributor from Performance Distributors. Radiator is a new postal jeep DJ5 3 core radiator, it cost $150 brand new and that included the shipping. Gas tank is a 14 guage stainless unit, 47" long, 10" high, 10" wide. It bolts in the bed between cabwall and fender wells. It is 20 gallon, for easy fuel calculations. Exhaust is stainless pipe and the rear is a 373 ratio. It should all be bolted up by January. Total cost including Cavalier seats and shop labor + price of this truck is about $7,000. I got this truck from eBay and the older gentleman replaced every thing on it in the 10 years he had it. This isn't a hot rod, it's a practical rod, yet it should haul ass and save gas. Pics coming soon.
That is what it typically uses, but the tranny shop told me I could use an internally balanced flywheel with this. My tranny is a heavy duty rebuilt unit with hydraulic overdrive. No need for a wimpy flexplate here.
