  2. In some of the States here in the USA it can be quiet a problem but your in Canada, I would suggest contacting your local DMV. HRP

The Vermont loophole, as it was known, is now closed

  5. I’m not familiar with Saskatchewan but in Alberta we don’t have titles, just registration as the ownership, can you put registration on it?

Start by contacting the DMV in the State the vehicle is in, minimum I’d think would need a VIN inspection, reason I say start in that particular state, a certified VIN inspector service can travel to the vehicle.
Years ago the Highway Patrol would come out and verify the VIN/sn but not sure if they do anymore.
Probably won’t be an easy process for you from across the border, but that’s where I’d start.
Edit: also meant to add I was referring to California, but state to state varies in the US.

So what state is the car located? Do you have a bill of sale? You would probably have less aggravation by contacting a registration service...

Yep, you need to check out the info for the state you want to deal with.
Try searching for something like "getting automobile title in (state)" and focus on the returns that have .gov in the address. The others (.com) may provide some insight, but normally are offering their paid service. Once you have an idea on how to do it, you may want to use the service. Many states have little to no written procedure for an old car with no proper paperwork. You have to dig for it. Also, as a general rule, a small town outlet is usually easier than a busy big city outlet. This does not apply to states that require going through the capital state level.

Last year I applied for and received a bonded title here in Iowa. No inspection but I provided all the proper forms and other requested paperwork, and lots of photos. Only took about eight months.

Every state process is different. I would look into the processes of any states close to where you are at.

Why doesn't the car have a title now?

  14. I sold a hotrod to a guy in Alberta and didn't have a title for it. Notarized bill of sale and signed registration. Can't remember if there was anything else. He picked it up at the border, no problems.

You need to contact your Department If Motor Vehicle and get information from them.

There are so many processes / procedures we don’t discuss Titles.
