I was looking around for some cool way to mount 37 ford truck tail lights on my highboy 34 Ford. Looking through my parts I thought that a pair of 34 headlight stands would look cool modified for this purpose. I’ve never seen it done before so I figured what the heck! Let’s try it! It’s easy and doesn’t cost much except some time and two headlight stands. 1D1551B4-3FBB-4F19-9AE2-2364E5D18553.jpeg 2A1E84A0-E051-4408-9B0D-4960CA79AC0E.jpeg A69D9E93-8039-4776-8671-2A211AAAAB2E.jpeg CB63D4B9-7B93-43BC-AFC6-39FBEBD932EA.jpeg

Here’s a stock headlight stand on left. Center has been cut down on a chop saw and ground to better accommodate the bullet shape of the tail light. 82A530E5-6B84-4522-8054-5BF6D0011D17.jpeg

I found two large flat washers and ground them to fit the opening. Measured and marked them for two mounting screws to bolt the taillights to the stands.tack welded the washer to the inside of stand. I could’ve just welded the tail light bucket directly to the stand but opted to make it bolt on in case I didn’t like the end result.I had to use an Allen screw for easier access to tight area. 4372CE76-4C9A-4049-8A9D-695D76C3B4EF.jpeg E688B1EF-FA78-4516-B256-5D5D1FC83402.jpeg

Added a second hidden tab with stud to secure the stand to my rear body gussets. Tight squeeze but you can still remove screws to disassemble tail light. 43CC38B2-1A62-4EE1-A0CD-7357F2221B1C.jpeg 021EE89C-01A7-4E9E-BF9F-FC0B88293E1A.jpeg 7AE1E6E1-024F-4D19-96F9-4D6BFAA2E58A.jpeg 87D4336A-1964-46E4-B973-F7467925C942.jpeg

End results. I hope this illustrates how I made a cool and unique pair of stands . EA7DAF2F-3598-48C9-A8E6-E9AD201BE8A9.jpeg D1CBB765-5018-42C4-A540-B99A1634AB94.jpeg 95F82B17-CDDF-42B2-A9D0-FBDF73EF672D.jpeg 900C7CBE-098A-4450-8B55-97127085B300.jpeg

Thanks guys! I’m not much on writing long worded posts,I think the pictures show pretty much how to replicate what I’ve done.

  16. They look good, and are less prone to breakage than the stock Ford tail light brackets.

I love this. Way better than the spindly tubular mounts you usually see. Nice work!!

Thanks..Also,in my opinion,I hate those store bought mounts they sell..They look fine for a model a or even a 32 but a 34 has such cool, flowing body lines that those type of mounts look kinda cheesy on it..Plus, I am cheap! ha ha

  20. Great job on the repurposing of the stands. End result looks nice and flows nice with the taillight bucket.
