    upload_2023-8-18_5-0-2.png Anglia Woody Station Wagon

    Hello,

In the 1963-64 season, the Westcoast saw a proliferation of Willys coupes and sedans in the Gas Coupe/Sedan Cl***es. They were much lighter than the Model A Coupes/Sedans. When the fibergl*** components arrived, they were lighter yet. But, some one is always looking ahead at the next version of a lightweight race car to use as an advantage over the compe***ion.

As the introduction of a lightweight Ford Anglia sedan was shown, thoughts of weight savings with the huge horsepower motors would now be the "top gun" of the compe***ion. So, the new builds started and showed up all over the USA, again. We saw a proliferation of lightweight Anglia sedans and panel trucks. Actually, any light weight car was in the books, but the Anglia had some qualities that appealed to others.

    Jnaki

As the cl*** grew and more folks were using the lightest weight bodies and frames to stay within the Gas Coupe and Sedan rules, it was an unusual sight not to see Anglia sedans and panel trucks at every drag strip.

Then like a light switch, the narrow Anglia sedans gave way to more stable race cars. He rules were changing and it was more or less an all out war to get a different light weight evenly spaced ch***is and body to absorb the power from the supercharged motors. So, now, it was an open design allowed in the Gas Coupe and Sedan cl***es.

Did that portion of the gas coupe cl*** help in demoting the popularity of the cl*** and participation? Sponsorships came into play in a lot of cl***es and then the cl***es started being eliminated. They were lumped into exhibition and or grouped into a general cl***. The Gas Coupe/Sedan Cl*** was fading fast and soon gone.

But, to show what the style and variety of Ford Anglia sedans, panel trucks/ modified cars could show up at the drags or car shows was chosen for this artwork. As a one of a kind custom car/hot rod would be a Ford Anglia Wooden Station Wagon.

Note: For the beach visitors, longboard(s) would have to go on a rack on top of the roof. The Anglia Station Wagon would be too short for any longboard. But, with today’s short boards, those would fit nicely inside and be secure as one walked away from the small, locked station wagon.

Also have this piece which is an updated, final version. I added interest by throwing in some clouds and more detail on the back ground elements.
It inspiration photo for this was taken by HAMB member @Malcolm on a very overcast day. the sky was a field of grey...

Birthday present this week from my 12 year old grandson. He drew it from a 30 year old photo of my son giving my father a ride.

I cannot imagine drawing cornstalks!!! Wow what a difficult yet tedious job! You make them look so realistic that they’re not even noticeable. Amazing!!

Looks like a great career. My High School guidance counselor never mentioned that one.
