I’m late finding out about Al’s passing. After reading the first post I understand why. I met him at the Portland roadster show 23 years ago. Could’ve talked to him for hours. I did communicate with him on social media later. I’ve always recommended his books to anyone interested in traditional hot rods. I feel his books go beyond the others that are picture heavy but with little information to go with them. His cross country trips to interview Southern California hotrodders in the 70’s are among my favorite reading. Rip Albert Drake. You had a lot of influence on this hotrodder.

I was fortunate to be in attendance Sunday. It was a nice turn out and some kind words spoken for Al from his friends and family. I took a couple of pics with my phone, here you go.

You too Marty. I can't wait to get both our trucks together and meet up for a picture with them.
