There's a 9/16 nut with an allen head bolt next to the shift lever on my Powerglide, what is this for?
OK, Thanks. I took the trans to the shop to have it checked out, they pulled the pump, pan etc. and it checked out good but after getting it back home I noticed that the 9/16 nut was backed off, which didn't look right. I tightened the nut up without touching the allen bolt, how do I make sure it's adjusted correctly? Or do I need to take it back to the shop and let them fix it?
Didn't see the link, but I just read online how to do it, and I even have an inch pound beam torque wrench. But, I paid them to check it out, and I'll bet the guy just left the nut loose, so they need to take care of it. The shop had already closed when I found this, and I posted here to see what was going on. Tighten the band adjustment screw to 72 inch lbs Unscrew the band adjuster three and a half turns (3.5) Tighten the band adjustment screw's locking nut Thanks, Jim
the link was in my first post.... the first reply here. probably best to take it back to you trans guy and ask them why it was left loose...
