I would like to know what I have here. Its a Chevy crank casting #3811001A.It has 2.1 on the rods and 2.45 on the mains....is this a steel crank or the regular run of the mill?It came in an small block with the 350 horse cam #3863151.Block cast number #3914678 ser #1N334259 in small letters and VO912ME in larger letters. Thanks for any info...A.J.
just to try to get the smart aleck comments out of the way first...its a small block chevy. Sorry just trying to save someone else the hassle of posting it... my source doesnt show the crank number but 3911001 is a 3.25 stroke crank so either 307 or 327. is it possible to have the 9 instead of the 8 as the second digit? block seems to be 68 327ish. is it 4" bore? You probably have a 4" bore large journal block which could be 302, 327 or 350 depending on crank. If the crank it 3" stroke, then 302. 3.25 stroke, then 327. 3.48 stroke then 350.
V0912ME seems to indicate a 1968 Camaro 327 1N334259 might be missing a number between the 1 and the N? if so that would tell us for sure what year it is? or maybe they didn't do that back then anyways, it's probably the engine I mentioned, since the two letter suffux was only used thru 69, and it's a large bearing block, and so it has to be 68 or 69, and the ME code is only used in 68. 327 has 4" bore, 3.25" stroke
Block casting number appears to be 1968 327 or 350 2 bolt mains. Could be either car or truck motor.Used in Camaro and Chevy 2 and pickups.
