I had my first start up today and it was very succsessful! A small leak from the carburator, but I think I know whats up so I will try to find the right part and fix it. I’m very happy it went so smooth and fired up straight away and everyting seams like it works as it should.

  7. Two things to say here.

One is that your English is just fine. You are totally understandable.

Two is that a T on an A is an excellent starting place. And who does not love a tub. Good start my friend.

Were debating the fuel leak in the carburator. That its probably the floater level thats needing adjustment.

On one of the 97s I was working on the needle stuck open and wouldn’t shut off flow even though the float was not stuck or sunk or set wrong. Make sure everything is clean and moves freely.

  12. Yes your English is excellent it is my Swedish that is not. I know enough to know that it is was fuel related but wasn't clear as to what the problem was you were discussing.

Check fuel pressure at carburetor! 97s like 3.5 p.s.i. (2 kp) is max. A needle/seat situation.
Nice progress on the tub. (I just bought another '27 T tub body for some panels, and have a third rear section from the 'B' pillar onto the back)
I sold my one '27 fuel tank, darn it! Thought I'd use something larger... Wish I'd kept it, as yours tucks away nicely.

I learned to solder while building Control Line model airplanes: fuel tanks, landing gear, modified bellcranks... I laugh now, because the biggest part was cleaning and tinning. I said then "Wish I could just weld this!"
The guys all laughed. Your soldering is like welding: PRACTICING! That was all it took. Good job!

Yeah. practicing like everyting, and don't be afraid to try! And yeah much cleaning to get it to work, but cute fun when you get it to work and learn a new thing.
I have a 2 psi fuel pump so I hope thats not the problem. I was a bit cheap and only baught a set of new gaskets for the carburator, I hope I don't have to tear it down and change the other parts, but if I have to it won't be a problem.

Sounds like you have a nice bulid coming up then! hope to see it here on the hamb!

Unfourtumaly the carburator started to leak realy bad everywhere. So no more drives until that is properly sorted out.

I think I sorted out the fuel leak. Put in a new fuelpump with even lower preasure (about 1,5psi) and redid one of the fittings at the carb. I have some back-fiering when I release the throttle and the radiator is leaking somewhat. But other than that it works good. I’m going to put a temp-meter in it as next thing because I really what to know if the temperature it going off.
But I am very happy right now! here is a short video of the trip around the village.

Congrats fgant...I was wondering fuel pressure as well...nothing worse than fuel spraying everywhere...gets one scurrying for shutdown and mopping up...

Been there done that...do you have a pressure gauge to reflect what's being pumped even though the pump is rated?

yeah. Not fun at all. But I’m glad I sorted it out. No gauge but I think I will but one in in the future.

Did not think of that. I might do some sort of extra lock for the passenger door . They do seem to sitt very tight, and I have rebuilt the locks with quite strong springs. But I havent driven it so much yet so I don’t really know how the doors will handle the body flexing.

    Hi!
The have not been any big progress on the car this winter. A lot of other stuff that had to be done, less energy than usual and a hard case of phneumonia. but I have done the wiering done. I had to redo some stuff that did not work with the old parts. Still hav not succed in getting all the gauges to work but thats secondary. Got most of the interiot done and have sorted the fuel leaks (renovated the carburator and mounted a fuel preasure regulator).
Got the car out running two times now. Most of it works as it should. But it seems like fumes from is leaking in to the cooling water. So I have to renovera the top and get it shaved (or get another one that is staight). Hoping to get that done next week.
