What is happening with the paint job? Is it becoming yellow or is yellow getting removed. What kind of paint? Is the cab paint sceme the look you are going for ?.. "wore off" yellow with greenish under?
It will eventually be all patina as the cab. Just haven't got to the doors yet. Krylon rattle can with Flood overcoat.
Not into putting that kind of money into the paint. I'm building this for my run around pleasure. Don't want to worry about someone screwing up a 30 or 40 thousand dollar paint job.
The money comes mostly from the material to do the bodywork. That has to be done regardless. Single stage enamel with a gloss hardener is very reasonable. 100-300.00. I’d too think it would be better one solid color. You pick the sheen. I lost the attraction of buffed and steel wool patina multicolor finishes. It’s like hot pants on a 50 yr old. It so 2010. Nice truck and great work.
I'm not looking to build a trailer queen. Just a nice retro mod truck. I hear you about the body work. I've got plenty of hours into getting this truck straight. I'm tickled to death about how it looks. Looking forward to driving it. Thanks for everyone's feedback back.
Um.... I think the driver's side door handle could use a little ******. Just sayin'..... Nice truck by the way!
I painted this truck for $11.00 including a $3.00 brush....then weathered it a bit... ...here's my 48 F-1....didn't paint much on it...
Yeah, I set my standards very high. Mostly what makes me happy. After all, that's who I'm doing it for to begin with. There's always going to be critics.
I see you're 70 years old and back from a "long recovery". A warm welcome back. Sounds like you're batting a thousand on the negative remarks. LOL. Good thing you built it for you and not for them. Honestly, it's not the look I would go for. But it's not my truck. If you're happy with it, I'm happy for you. At least you're not proudly displaying rust. Good luck. Have fun. And btw, paint your damn truck. Just kidding. LOL
Thanks, I figure life is always going to have some that don't agree with ya. I'm not interested in pleasing everyone. I enjoy turning wrenches on my truck. It's been a ten year labor of love.
Hey it’s yours , Paint it as you are pleased with it . I had a 48 , that I brush painted , drove it daily for many years and miles . Lots of fond memories , nothing to worry about , in the scratch and dent sale .
