Just got home from watching the 50th anniversary of AG. It was great to see it on the big screen. It was almost completely sold out. It was a room full of aging car guys and their spouses. The best thing was no cell phones lighting up and no crying babies.
I just got back from watching it myself. I was surprised how many people were at the theater too watch, especially for a 4:00 matinee.
LOL ah gee thanks a lot. Just as long as nobody tells me who wins the drag race at the end (so I’ve heard)
Wanted to go yesterday…but damn 4:15 wake up time and a swap meet meant I would likely fall asleep in the heated leather recliners at the Theater…gonna hit it Wednesday…
Saw it last night at 7 pm in Huntington Beach. There were maybe 10 people there. Took our daughter to see it on the big screen. Much better than watching it on TV. Gordy
I went last night, only 6 other people in the theatre. I only saw it at the drive in when it came out, 11 years old. It's showing again Wednesday night and will most likely go again. Great entertainment for $4! After all these years watching it on tv I only noticed last night the chute pack on the tailgate of the pickup truck when Curt is sitting on the car hood watching tv as the Pharaohs approach him. Don't know how I missed that!
My son and I went to see it yesterday. First time he's seen it and he thought it was fun. He liked the old tunes best. I tried to get a group of KC area HAMBers to join us via a HAMB event post. No takers.... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...a-folks-meet-greet-american-graffiti.1299220/
We went Sunday afternoon, and the place was virtually empty. I may go again just to see it on the big screen, and to enjoy the sound quality. I saw it originally at the drive-in when it came out, and several times since on TV. Since I graduated in ‘64, it hit home in a lot of ways: music, dress styles, and the cruisin’. Long live AG!
Went tonight..hit a cruise night first, had dinner, and took in the movie..there were a total of 16 people in the Theater..me and the Wife ( mid 50’s ) were almost the youngest people there…there was a Father that brought his probably early 20’s Son and his girl…had a blast…nobody got up until the credits…coolest thing for me was when we were leaving the kid complimented my Competition speed and custom T shirt…made me think there may be some young folks to keep the flame lit… Bonus was the Wife actually enjoyed the movie in its entirety..she’s only seen bitd and pieces…
It seems like they are not showing this anywhere in or near Austin. Crazy...I guess I will watch it online
