Back in the late 60's early 70's I saw some of my photos show up in magazines and I didn't get credit. I can live with that as I got paid what I wanted for what I did. What I didn't count on however is seeing my pictures in mags with credit going to the ***hole I worked for. Using the pics was great. Putting his name on them as the photographer ****ed. Too many people climb to the top by stepping on everyone else along the way.
Cool! Dude your rod is famous now! hehe. Maybe in the future kids will be saying it was that rod on the Duluth catalog that was their inspiration to get in to hot rodding. I would call Duluth to see how they respond. To put it in perspective most guys would have to pay $300+ to have someone do a nice illustration of their rod like that. ($300-$500 was a price I got to do my truck) If they don't treat you right then go track down the artist and rough him up, break his damn pencil.

If you don't own the photo you have no recourse. The photographer might but just on the photograph. As far as art, you can't tell me that you have never tried to draw a picture from a photo!
Gooch, what the hell do you do for a living? Some of us work as designers and illustrators and deal with copyright law every day. It's hard enough trying to make a living without some jerk-off telling everyone it's ok to rip me off. Ever heard of professional ethics?!

Looks like he is a ****? What we have here,are a perfect example of a rod built to be driven! Road Rash sucsessfully reveals the owner\builders taste,and knowledge,and will only look better as time leaves it traces. It has an AT***UDE. this cant be argued about. I have "borrowed" photos from Carnut.com an many occasions to post here as reference or point of conversation. I usually give credit to George and his website. He even emailed me and thanked me for giving him credit. I do not know much about copyright laws, but do know that if you take any photograph that has the photographers name across the body of the image, to a film developer or printer, you will not get it copied. I have "borrowed" photos from here, but have noticed that the pros have their name across the body of the picture, And, in conclusion, I think it is very rude to take pot shots at someones car here, unless you know the individual and are just jesting with him/her. I am not sure how this turned in to a car bashing session. At least for some folks. K-member's hot rod is the reason I am here today. Several years ago I was going north on Hwy 99 in Seattle, when this hot rod made my business car turn off the road. I stomped in to the Tattoo shop and said: Who the hell owns that hot rod out there?? K-member came out, spend some time with me, hell he even let me sit in it. I drove home that day, sold my muscle car and parts, and now I am building a...you guessed it. A Model A hot rod! About the picture: I have no plans to go after Duluth at this point, but this conversation does bring up some point about copyrights. A lot of folks on the HAMB are artists, and they make a living at it, so it has to be respected. My 2 cents...
I say if i take my own pics of cool cars at rod runs, then chop em in sodapop, to where you couldnt recgognise them, then the final peice is owned by me, no one else. Its just like taking a car that everyone sees as a 49 ford. You customize it yourself with crazy body modifications, now its your body, not Fords. In all fairness, the amount of your car you can see in that drawing isnt enough, in my opinion, to prove it was your car. the little things do add up, lugnuts and such. But Im guessing that ever since they started chopping and hotrodding those cars, theres been millions and millions of pictures taken of them. And Im sure that there was one at the same perspective, with the same chop and everything. Not saying thats what happened, but im not saying it couldnt of happened either. If it was a unique, crazy, one of a kind body style, like a Big Daddy creation, then ok, youd have a case, but a black chopped rod with red steelies?? At any rate, I think the car IS unique and very bad ***, I like it a lot! I also like the poster too! And who was the one that made a comment about the lazy *** artist that just stole and didnt do anything. What about all the guys there he had to draw? theres more lines in one of them than in the whole car! Anyways, good tread, at least I learned more about the people on here and where some stand on issues like these

I am building a chopt 1950 Ford tudor sedan with a 350, 9 inch rear, 6.5 chop, full airbags on trailing arms. I don't have to explain myself to anybody- This post has gotten way out of hand anyway. Who cares if your car is on a tool catalog? You know what, if this is what the HAMB is all about, I do not want any part of it. I do apologize for the rude and dumb comments that I made. Ya know, as screwed up as the legal system is in this country, if you contacted the company, they might sue you and end up owning your car. I have seen stranger things happen. By the way, that is a very cool car, a REAL hot rod!!! If that car was at a Goodguys event, for example, it is the one I would be drawn to and keep coming back to look at again & again.
