I have been looking for a 35-40 ford frame for my 40 ford truck rod project and came across what I am told is a 41 sedan ford frame, I am not sure from pics but looks similar but don't know what difference between the frames are beside maybe size. Anyone know what year this is and major differences between a 35-40 and 41 frame?
looks like 41-48 to me....i could be wrong...but the torque tube going through the frame is the newer ones i had a 37 and a 46 side by side and that was a noticible difference Zach
The '41-'48 passenger car frames look similar to the '35-'40 frames, but they are built to carry a completely different body. All the dimesions are different, mostly bigger.
That frame is the 41-48 style. Big difference in frames. Wheelbase for starts and general configuration. You need a 35-40 car or truck. You may also be able to build a 40 pickup on a 42-48 ford pickup frame as they used the same cab. I don't know that for sure. Pat.
Body mounts and stuff like that can be relocated I just wanted to make sure they were atleast pretty close. Seems like they are. It is good price and good shape so it might have to do. Thanks guys
I guess my biggest concern is that I will be able to channel the 40 cab over the 41 passenger car frame and that the frame isn't too wide, everything esle can be made to work.
The big issues will be track width and wheel base diferences. After all the hassle of mounting everything, it might end up looking like a '40 truck equivalent of the Street Beast '34.
Well I am hoping a street beast is what it will be. I am only running a cab and bed no fenders open engine.
Stick with a 35-40 car or pickup frame or a 41 pickup frame and run from the 41-48 passenger car frames and the 42-48 pickup frames. Just to many differences.
I have a 40 and 41 frame side by side in my shop. The only thing that is the same is both have flathead motors.
I actually had that fear, but after some pie cuts and pinching i made it fit under a 39 chevy cab. you have to cut the xmember out tho. ill update with a current picture as soon as i can but heres one when i picked it up.
K3nny if you got some pics I would enjoy seeing them. I figured if I got to piecut or pinch some it will be fine, small budget and work with what ya got I say. As long as i can channel the cab over frame and get an engine and******* in it I am golden.
ive got a ton of pictures i can get for you, unfortunatly im not finnished because of lack of a table. i'll Pm You tonight. -kenny
