I have a vertical handle Lokar transmission mounted parking brake that was mounted to my C4 transmission. I changed to an AOD and there is no room to mount on transmission any longer. Also, no room in cab to mount a floor mounted style that lays flat. I would like to know if anybody has made an adapter bracket to install the vertical handle to the floor.
There is room beneath the tunnel for the cable bracket but not for the transmission mount brackets. Any ideas? Thanks for any assistance.

If you can show which style of Lokar parking brake handle assembly you have we may be able to offer better ideas.
Your car probably has less space between the seat(s) and door than my Nova but here is where I mounted the Corvette unit in my car.

Installed a foot operated park brake on a 34 chev. Keeps the floor area clear. WP_20170316_21_14_15_Pro.jpg

The majority of the mounting bracket for the trans mount lever is there to provide a fixed mounting for the static end of the handbrake cables relative to the lever mounting. With a floor mount the lever and cable mounts are separate but are both fastened to the floor, thus maintaining their relative positions. The way I see it, to mount a trans mount lever to the floor you just need to make up L shaped brackets or similar ( like the floor mount brackets!) to put the mechanism in the right place (and under the floor) and align with the cable brackets ( which in turn could be modified to more suit the lever arrangement).

I've copied a 700r4 trans mount modify and to fit to a manual tko600 and it works great, except the short lever is too far forwards for my seating position ( I was sure it would be OK, certainly looks neat, but I was wrong!) so I'm thinking a new mount, possibly to the floor, or maybe the trans, is in order, but I've not looked into that yet.

If floor space is at a premium you may want to consider the '35-'48 Ford parking brake mechanism that bolts under the dash.

I have a Lokar EHB Transmount emergency brake. I attached the Lokar instruction sheet.
It was mounted to the transmission and now no room between the AOD housing and the floor tunnel.
All cable is still there and it seems like there should be a way to make some sort of bracket to secure it to the floor. Any ideas.?

I used the ratchet tee pull handle mounted under the dash left. IMG_4750.jpeg 69905365219__2AF96384-A962-4217-A9EC-A1FB3DF9355C.jpeg

Nice bit of "imagineering" there, and I'm not singling out the OP here but it so often seems like people want either the cheapest or quickest route to issues like this.
I gotta say from experience that it's for sure not going to happen quickly and may take more than one try.

A lot of head scratches went it that “imagineering” but the pull handle is what my dad installed so I had to make it work.

  11. I have the Lokar brake handle that lies horizontally, parallel to the floor, installed by a previous owner...... and I hate it. I'm going to try shimming it to tilt the front tip, button release a tad higher so I can get my fingers comfortably under the grip. But my Advance Design, truck seats are fairly high so it's a long reach to the handle on the floor near the firewall. My head and line-of-sight are literally below the dashboard when I operate the Ebrake and I'm not comfortable with that. I may have to go with one of the under-dash levers.
I wandered over to the Lokar site to check out what the Opening Poster has..... and what else Lokar offers in emergency brake set-ups. The "fabricate a bracket" idea that the OP mentioned should work. The bracket can be as simple as a hunk of angle iron. Or, if the floor is too thin and it oilcans too much, fabricate a wider/longer bracket out of 1/8" flat stock. The existing hole in the floor and the cable length should all be the same.

Any more engine side of firewall photos on the connection?
On my car I had to get creative because of the IRS:eek:, it required about a 60 degree turn mid way from the handle so I used a combination of bare and OEM sheathed cable assemblies along with these cool sliding patio door wheels.
Also used these same wheels on my 66 Suburbans' power window conversion as they required a near 90 degree turn.

Not at the moment, the body is at the body shop getting worked on for paint. Basically it’s just the cable from ratchet handle to fulcrum. I used Control Cables to make all cables from pull to rear brakes.

    Angle steel, two pieces.

Drill two holes in them for the parking brake bracket bolts on one side of each.

Drill two holes in them on the other side of each, and bolt that side to the bottom of the floor.

I use these on T5's, with this bracket:

This basic design, just on both sides of the Lokar base bracket should make for a nice floor mount.

Well you have to know that at least Gimpy can actually read and comprehend the OP's actual question and as usual give a solid answer. They mount the Lokar cable shifters on top of the floor now rater than on the transmission and it shouldn't be that hard to fab brackets to hold the verticle handle next to it and run the cable though the floor, The hard part will probably be figuring out a boot to cover it that looks right.
It may take a slot in the floor so that the works of the park brake are just far enough below the floor that the cables run under the floor if that is possible. handbrake-on-trans-black.jpg transmountapplication.jpg

Ford Falcon,Mustang and pinto have a similar style. Lokar is quality and pricey.
Also fork lift's have similar brake handle.
