I tried several searches here and on the 'net in general but really didn't find many photos of Model A Tudor sedans on Model A frames. I'll be picking up my new victim tomorrow morning and have already been building it in my head. I could/would probably do a frame kickup in the rear to lower it, but nothing radical. Fairly tame in the front too with a 4" dropped axle, reverse eye spring and, and possibly use the 1" drop front crossmember that I happen to already have. So-o-o....if you have any photos of a fenderless A sedan, please post them up. If I just didn't use the right search words and phrases I'd appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. Thanks, in advance. Lynn
That's nice! Your car? Have any more photos or perhaps a build thread or info on the chassis and suspension? That's a '28/29 grill shell, isn't it? How many inches of chop? My list of questions could go on but I'll quit at that. Love it! Lynn
Stan Back, Thank you VERY much for the additional photos of your A sedan. That is a really well proportioned car. At the risk of being a copy-cat, it will almost certainly be the poster child for my project. I hope that's OK with you. Remember, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". I'm guessing the rear spring is something in the neighborhood of a 35' to '40 vintage? Also, the steering box is kind of hiding behind the motor mount, but it appears to maybe be a Vega box? Maybe it's just photo distortion, but is the frame pinched a bit in front of the firewall to run parallel with the hood sides? I'm not a parts hoarder but it's surprising how many parts I already have around my shop that will fit right into building a similar A sedan. Lynn
. . . that's all over 30 years ago, so my recollection ain't so good. My friend Al Simon built the chassis -- as with my Bonneville roadster 10 years or so later. I had redone the chassis a couple of times, even replaced it, but by the time came to go to Bonneville, I needed help again. We set 9 Bonneville and El Mirage records, so that worked out, too.
