I installed a 1986 302 into a 47 Ford pickup. I manufactured lifting blocks to raise the engine but still fit under the firewall. I used a Tremec 5 speed transmission and had to manufacturer a transmission support. I also installed a 1966 rear end out of a F100 and that was a direct bolt up except had to have emergency brake cable manufactured to marry the rear end with the 47 brake lever. None of this was particularly difficult but it did take time and the proper tools (primarily a welder). It steers easy with the stock steering, at least mine does.
