Got the second one done and fought the “replacement” hood spring off. Hopefully after 24 hours of some kroil the plunger will thread off and I can get the new one on tonight. Also trying to mark holes for the car seat anchors today as well IMG_8633.jpeg

Came right out and right back in with the trimmed spring. Should be great on the road it’s very firm when shut I bet it rattles a lot less than with the worn stock spring IMG_8648.jpeg IMG_8649.jpeg

Good drives today. Much more fun when it’s below 80 deg. Looking forward to fall IMG_8668.jpeg

Lower sides are hand buffed and polished and the side trim is on. Really had to smack it on there. Those new trim clips are very stiff IMG_8676.jpeg top of the hood should really clean up with an actual buffer

The plan is to bring the A. Of course, I still haven't had the time to sort out my dead starter switch problem, but should have that rectified in the next week or two now that the summer is calmed down.

Working on the inside of the car IMG_8874.jpeg got some very beefy car seat anchors in place IMG_8888.jpeg IMG_8889.jpeg IMG_8891.jpeg IMG_8892.jpeg
Pulled the back seat and sat it up on a make shift table. Folded a large sheet of butcher paper in half. Clamped it to the center line and traced the edge. Added a standard 5/8 seam allowance and cut it out. Making a strong attempt to get the upholstery finished by the roc

Got the bottom of the bottom of the back seat patterned and ready for the first draft in muslin. Working on the seat back right now. Hoping I can make a solid push and get the front seat rebuilt and hopefully patterned by next Sunday night. Seems a stretch but I haven’t got much time til the show and really want to have it with its new threads

Sundays tomorrow! Got the back seat about where I wanted to be. Got a lot of tedious work to make this happen by tomorrow night. Gonna keep pushing

IMG_9167.jpeg Alright patterns for the seats are ready to be sewn into muslin and test fit, tweaked. There’s a couple spots I just can’t really know what it’s going to do and how to work around it until I fit it etc.

then once those are sorted we will make the patterns for the inserts and etc and the real seats will get sewn.

While that happens I’m getting back to fitting the kick panels and replacing door panel clips and making seat back panels.

I like the idea of some new carpet before the trip but I’m running out of time and funds.

once my part of the interior is paused or done I’ll start working on cleaning up the paint and doing little pre trip check over.

I’d like to get some more miles on the car before we leave for the trip but even if I’m sitting on a blanket it’s seeming un likely. Taking the car to work means moving all the tools and stuff sitting on the car, and then putting it all back to work on the car in the evening.

guess we’ll see. Octobers running up fast! I’ll make it one way or another I’ll just be happier if this is all done in time.

@drdave im tryin lol this ****s tedious. I’ve been trying to get at least two hours in every day. Even if somethings not really fighting me I look up and it’s been two hours already. Slow goin, I think I’m closing in on around 25-27 hours so far on these seats and I haven’t sewn anything yet

I can totally see that....took me 3 years to get the seat covers on my A and they were already sewn. LOL

Well it was a full day of spare moments and two hours at the end but I tried three different fittings to attach the door and got one to work. IMG_9230.jpeg kick panels are finally in, drivers door tweaked and re installed, front seat muslin sewn and fit with and with out the foam. Feels so good to be this far.

Let’s see where are we. Got the car scrubbed down now I need to buff all the hard water marks off the dang thing and polish wax etc.

got the new carpet and floor mats about half done last night and the seat insert patterns close to done for the front seat. Running out of time before the rock I think the back seat will likely get blankets for the trip but that’s ok. IMG_9249.jpeg got to test out my $16 Amazon door sign magnets when I washed the car. Worked perfect! I’ll slap them in the trunk for just in case moments or they roll up real easy.

got about 15-20 items on the shrinking list of to do’s before the trip but I’m closing in on it.

Carpet and floor Matt’s are done, sewing on the front seat has started. Gotta finish up some carpet details tomorrow and then make the front seat bakes. Once I get this interior stuff done I can jump on cleaning up the paint. That’s gonna take a couple days by itself I think

Really pushing it trying to get a lot done by time to leave for the roc IMG_9289.jpeg new carpet and floor mats are mostly done just need to install Velcro to keep it put IMG_9291.jpeg IMG_9292.jpeg diamond pleated inserts for the front seat are 1/2 done. All the piping has been made. I think the seat tops will be done tonight and most of the bottom started. I’ll need to trim the foam a little different than I did initially but I don’t think my mind can add another thing to the list so I’m gonna just lump it into the instal IMG_9329.jpeg last night I started making solid seat backs which screw to the seat frame. They will get wrapped in black vinyl and likely gain a pocket on them later on.

Got the second one drilled and some slightly different hardware bought this morning and I’ll get them cut to shape this afternoon.

then I can split my time between cleaning the paint up and doing “pre flight check” and a few little patches
