62 Wagon and I came up with a plan. Any excuse to throw a GMB party!:D

Instead of cutting all the cardboard thats needed for stuffing the calendars on the day that we do the stuffing in Dec, we thought we could all get-together and do it in my garage while the weather is still decent.

Cardboard Cutting BBQ on Sunday Oct 8th
    Anytime after 12 noon

Chris, 62Wagon will have a bunch of plexiglass templates for us to use. What I need you guys to bring is lots and lots of cardboard. We need trucks full. Head to your local Wally-World, Target, grocery store, or recycling center. There will be a whole lot more calendars this year so we need alot of cardboard cut and ready to go for Dec.

We can have a bon-fire going and burn the scraps instead of Chris having to haul it back to the recycling center. I've got a big screen TV in the garage now and I'm working on a surprise DVD to show you guys.:D I also have the sharpies out if you guys wanted to start "decorating" the cardboard pieces:D

I'll supply the stuff for the BBQ, meats, side dishes, cookies;) and pop. You want beer, please bring your own.

We need as many hands as possible so even if you can only come for an hour or two, whatever time you can donate will be greatly appreciated.

Sound off if you can make it so I know how much food to plan for.

    xoxoxo

Mapquested if you've never been here

  4. Denise,

I will try to make it with H-bob, but we will have to play it by ear. If we can't make it down, don't hate us....please:eek:

A 5 hour drive one way is WAY too much to ask. Please don't even think about it. Your WAY COOL for even offering. We'll all hook up at the end of Oct in Birch Run or something for breakie.

I have to be in LA that weekend, but I may be able to swing over sooner and bring some cardboard... I'll save whatever I can steal from work!

I can't promise anything (the mid michigan GMB's are a bunch of losers lately) but i'll try to get some of us motivated to come down. If it happens I'll get in touch to find out what we can bring to fill out the menu.

  9. Hey Denise what kind of cardboard is needed? Where I work we toss butt loads away everyday into a compactor. I could fill my tiny trunk easily in a couple days and and bring it over.

The brown kind they make boxes out of....... :D

If anyone wants to bring boxes over before Oct 8th just stick them on the back screened in porch.

    Denise,

Thanks for organizing and hosting such and event, I'll be there for sure with a load of cardboard, I will miss the dumpster-diving near your home this year though. Looking forward to showcasing my cardboard cutting skills. GMB style, see photo.

Yeah never know, depending on how much or little cardboard folks bring, dumpest-diving with the GMB's on that Sunday might still be in your future.:D

Frank, you could always come SOLO although this was kinda planned on a Sunday instead of Saturday so those that play on Saturday nite could attend and those that have places of business open on Saturday could attend.

I hope you can make it cuz I really missed seeing you at Kzoo.;) Plus I want you to see my new hot rod garage....I mean kitchen.:D

Looking forward to seeing you again.

What about 4 hours? :) I'd love to hang out, but I believe I'll be at a friends house trying to finish up his car for its unveiling at the Pileup.

Maybe the calandar stuffing party... but only if the bunny shows up. I have a thing for rabbits.

(bring that lazy sob Mongo too)

  21. I seem to say this a lot... "I should be able to make it, but..."
...but really, it's been a crazy year!

Dad and I will be coming home from Hershey Saturday night/Sunday Morning. I'll see what time we get back, and see how much stuff we have to unload!!
I do have a pretty good source for cardboard if you are in need. Let me know, I could always drop it off before we leave on or before thursday.

We need, we need! Usually get four cutouts per large box therefore we need at least 200 large flatened boxes.:D

I'll be there. I've been neglecting all the car stuff this year so now that summer is over it's time I help out.

  24. I'll come, but only if there is fur coat wearing involved.

And, I'll start hoarding cardboard at work until then. They need to be at least 12X12" right? We have alot of smaller boxes, but I'll grab all the big ones I can. (That doesn't sound right...)

Hey Denise, I'll test your memory & see if you remember me. I've been flying low since I was at your place last fall..But, I can come help you out Sunday for a few hours.

I'll have to scrounge some fresh cardboard....everything I've got has oil stains on it.

    Scott.

  29. Ever get a measurement for the calendars? We have alot of little boxes that maybe can be pieced together.

BTW, I was walking thru Holiday Market today, on my every Friday beer run, and there was an empty box in the aisle... like a vision.:D

I got that sucka! It's a bigun too!

No hints were even needed. Of course I remember. You're unforgetable. I'm really looking forward to seeing you again. I'm so glad you can make it.

Jay, Frank, as far as the pieces of cardboard, they will be cut to exactly 17 inches by 13 inches. Remember they need to be almost perfect so they will fit in the envelope and still protect the corners of the calendar from getting mushed. No piecing of cardboard together needed. The cardboard needs to be one stiff piece to work right.:D
