We finished off the cake Sunday night, it was great! Thanks again.

The slicks fit in the trunk. It's a tight squeeze

Grease the s#!t out of everything outside the bellhousing to see if it can be ignored/fixed.
Look who I'm giving advise to, the guy that builds drag week funny cars and runs a barn find months after he buys it!!!:D

  6. Southern Comfort cake, It's a misunderstood spirit, actually it's not a whisky or a bourbon but a liqueur.

Makes a great cake and pretty good waffles. HRP

Dammit... I sneaked on here to see how Jim was travelling, and now I wants Kentucky Bourbon Butter Cake. Would it be acceptable to make this with Jack Daniels, or would I be committing a social sin using Tennessee whisky to make it?

Good luck with the clutch squeal Jim.

    Cheers,

In 1972 we went to Mardi Gras in New Orleans and met up with some friends from Corpus Christi. Rudy was driving a white 57 Chevy wagon that started squealing. I told him that it was the throwout bearing and dont worry, it might squeal for months. I was WRONG. As we drove across town it was obvious that he was shifting without using the clutch and the bearing would have to be changed right away. All the parts stores were closed for Mardi Gras and we had to drive half way back to Baton Rouge to get parts. We changed the throwout bearing in a kind strangers driveway. When we were ready to drive away, reverse was not where it should be, we had reversed the shift rods. No problem, we drove the chevy all the way to Corpus before fixing them. In a tiny town somewhere in Texas about 2 in the morning, we stopped at a flashing red lite. We were going to turn right but I said, Rudy, better wait for the car coming from our left. Sure enough it was a drunk and after he zoomed thru the light, he followed a parked cars tail lights and smashed into the car.

@squirrel are these the smallest slicks you've ever run?

Drag and drives looks so much fun.

Never underestimate little slicks.... Had the same size on my 12.00 chevy II . hooked hard always until it twisted the drive shaft in two:p

Luckily, the M21 isn't super heavy.

You guys please be careful being under the car on jackstands. You know... trying to get the job done quick and everything. Throw the slicks and the end table from the hotel room under there just in case.

    Thanks, we'll be careful.

will probably get the front up this morning and look under there, and if we decide to change it will do it at the track and borrow a couple more decent stands, etc .

The nice thing about doing it at the track is that you’ll have tons of help and if you need something the other guys will jump in no problem. That’s why I love the hobby so much we all look after each other. Just be careful under the car and I’m looking forward to more post during the day!

  21. My TOB was a little noisy when I first put the car together, it would squeal in 4th gear at about 3500 RPMs, but quieted down. Yours... you should change it out. It is a long walk home...

I think we figured it out. There is wear like the bearing collar spun in the fork. Like the fork is too wide to contact the little bump that stops it from turning. The bearing feels fine, the grease is kind of thick. I think when it warms up it turns more easily. No noise yet today.

We have a plan to try to fix it tonight.

Rolled back out of the beam first run. Flubbed the launch in the second, but I'll take it.

Just saw your second run on the live feed. Quite a few cars are rolling backward out of the beams.

Love the car, and the mis-matched wheels thread fits right in. That Divco looked serious. This makes me really miss Day of the Drags. Have blast and be safe. You know we're all jealous.
