Have a Borg Warner T9 transmission mated to a 59AB that I would like to swap to an 8BA. My Hogshead adaptor is badly cracked and will have to be replaced. Does anybody know which Hogshead I should get to adapt the T9 to a 8BA bellhousing? Are they all the same, or do they very through out the years?
They are all the same to my knowledge. If you plan on driving your truck much, you may want to consider switching the trans to a synchronized unit. The t98 trans was used in trucks behind the flat v8 in 51-52
This T9 trans has a pto unit to run a hydraulic pump for the lift bed. I'd have to find a T98 with a pto and then make it fit in the space. The trans is really stuffed in there. It doesn't even have a spud shaft going to the transfer case, it just has a u-joint. No real wiggle room to work with. I kinda like the old crash boxes anyways. The solid feel, and the sound of straight cut gears. Reminds me of when my father use to drive me around in his 46 Chevy Sedan Delivery when I was a kid. Thanks for the conformation on the hogshead bellhousing. I found one on eBay that looks right so I'm going to purchase it. Its kinda expensive so I wanted to be sure it's the right one.
