I ran across this steering wheel a few months ago. It has unique molded plastic inserts on the spokes I've never seen. Nor has anyone that has seen it. I'm unsure of how to remove insert to clean some mold and hoped if I knew it's origin I could search as an appropriate forum. Or, usually someone here has the answers!!

The chrome pieces on the 3 spokes are removable by a single screw from the backside. I don't know how to remove the plastic insert from the chrome piece on the spokes. Below are pictures of the spoke chrome removed. It kinda looks like if I try to remove the plastic insert it'll break! There's two pictures of the backside of the spoke attachment that may be kinda confusing and hard to make out . Thanks in advance for any information. 3. Most likely a marine wheel off a boat. I don't see any provision for either a horn or turn signals. And by the time that style car wheel appeared, most were splined hubs, not keyways, another indicator for a boat.

If you need to remove mold, try soaking in bleach. Just soak the whole spoke with the chrome included. It shouldn’t hurt the chrome. Then rinse well and blow it dry quickly.

I have the same one saved for my '51 Merc, it fits on the Mercury column with the taper/keyway.

I think so too. Seriously thinking of adapting it to my 41 Ford I'm building. Nonstock column with three hole mounting.
