No. Being more of a restoration style I didn’t really think it would fit in here.

Maybe, I think a lot of us like a little bit of everything. Original, custom, lowrider, hot rod etc..at least I know I do.

While the AD group here is basically inactive lately there is a lot of good information there for you.

It’s officially mine. I was able to get it vin verified & Finnish the registration/titling process through the licensed verifier at an insurance agency. :) Thanks everyone for the helpful info so far.

Yep, things change. I had to get a certified weight on the last PU I did. Even after I said I didn’t want commercial plates for it.

Yeah:cool:first thing I’d like to do because it’s easily accessible is the rear suspension. Sometime after that the engine/trans.

Nah someone just decided to do some “custom” suspension work to it. I was told one of the prior owners had started to get it ready for airbags.

  13. Sodak uses an old Book with weight listings. At least twice I had to show the treasurers where the book was (on their shelves) and how to look up 30s Fords!

Did you notice the absence of that on Francisco’s paperwork? It’s what made me read it over a few times.

Is it true that 49-54 Chevy car front hubs & drums work on the AD truck spindles for converting to 5 lug? I found a pair of those hubs on eBay for a little over $100 & am thinking of getting them. Here’s a pic.

I thought about that but I’ve only found one for sale in my area on offerup & it’s complete but the guy wants $900. So far I’ve got about $400 into new rear leaf springs & shackles etc. I’d imagine I’d probably have to replace all that on any other old chassis I might end up buying so I guess I’ll just work on this one. I’m waiting to pay off some debt before I go buy a cherry picker to drop in the running 250 & trans to get the pinion angle set correctly with the rear diff.

    What?!

Removing the extra stuff and patching the rails is like a 3-hour job.

Even at my ridiculous shop rates, this would be cheaper and easier than buying another frame.

Boy howdy you came out a winner on that one.
Yes the 51/54 Car hubs and drums swap over to the truck spindles.
I've only done the swap when I was swapping from Huck brakes Chevy car brakes and had to use the backing plate from the car. Some say that you can run the hubs if the truck came with Bendix brakes and 51 and later did. That might be try first before you swap too many parts.

One thing on here, don't pay a lot of attention to the bullshit artists who always have off the wall ideas. Some of those have already chimed in.
First you have to decide what your build is going to end up being and then sort out the pieces you have and decide what works and what doesn't. If it doesn't fit in your plan then decide the course of action.

The GM heritage center vehicle informaton kit archives pfd for 1952 truck pages (gm.com)
has a lot of measuements that you might need. Scroll down to the right model.
As suggested before the 47/54 Assembly manual has a lot of the details on how things go together.
A factory service manual for 1952 Chevrolet truck is a good investment even if you aren't staying "original" Easy to follow instructions that anyone who can read and comprehend can actually understand and follow. The tech writers in that time period wrote very basic and simple but complete instructions.
Don't be afraid to ask if you have questions and you are welcome to pm me any time with a question. I don't have all the answers but usually know where to look to find them.

Hey, since I’m such a nice guy, and you’re dang close, you’re welcome to use my cherry picker. I don’t need it for about 3 weeks when I get back to a 4 night schedule.

Huck brakes are the type of Chevy brake used from 1936 through 1950. They are different from the Bendix design used starting in 1951. The newer brakes generally work better.

It’s been a while & I don’t have a whole lot to report. I’ve been just buying stuff getting it all ready to tear Into come late January/early February & hopefully not any later. I had tried to mock up the bed just to see her in all her patina’d Glory but in trying to mount the rear fenders to the bed & install new cross sills nothing matched up. I came to the realization that the bed it came with is 41-46.(up for sale if anyone local needs one)

i ended up finding a “new” bed with almost no rust except the front panel down in porterville ca, what a drive. Anyhow here’s a couple of pictures with the fresh bed I picked up for her.

I’ve got a gap between the running boards & rear fenders, not real big but big enough I’m fairly certain it’s not correct. I’ll try to post a better picture of it tomorrow.
