Idle vacum

    My 454 at 700 RPM has 16/17 inches of vacuum at the modulator valve with the line going directly into the intake manifold, is this enough to operate the turbo 400 trans?

    Get a vacuum gage and try to play with the idle mixture screws.... Try shooting for the highest vacuum reading on your gage.....;)

    That's a really good vacuum reading. And it's plenty enough to run power brakes or the modulator or anything.
