    Hi Folks!
I've been reading, studying and lurking here for several years, and now the time has come to ask for your expertise. My father, the Fireman p***ed away a little over a year ago after 10 years with dementia.
He built a 32 Ford 3 Window with a Flathead engine from the ground up, even did the paint with the help of a friend! The project started with the purchase of the body at the Pomona Fathers Day Car Show and Swap in 1979, and was on the road in 1995. He kept a book of every part, every vendor, every spec related to this car. It was a family affair, with everyone participating from buying parts at holidays to p***ing tools and holding flashlights. I was the primary tool/flashlight kid. I watched and learned and appreciated all the knowledge my father had to offer, and loved the smell of his immaculate garage.
About 10 years ago I convinced him to start up the '32. For about 7 years before that, it had sat dormant. It cranked fine after replacing the battery, but immediately started leaking fuel onto the drip pan. We stopped, he was sad and frustrated, and I was heartbroken for him. Within a few years he broke his hip, and my mom parked him at a 24-hr care home until he p***ed.
So now its my time to pick up the '32. I've been waiting a long time for this moment, when I have the funds to enjoy it, and teach my grandson about this car and his exceptional great grandad.
I live in Northern California, in Nevada County. Dads car is in Southern California, at the border of Orange Co. and San Diego Co. I need the car hauled up here, and I need to find a Flathead mechanic in my area to get it running again.
Today I went to the local car show, put on by Roamin' Angels, Gr*** Valley, CA. Every vintage Ford I saw had a chevy in it. Not one flathead! I'm looking for a flathead guy up here, east Sacramento, Roseville, Folsom, Chico, Redding, to get the fuel issue resolved, go thru hoses, oil change, fuel tank drain, filter changes... so I can safely get it back on the street for the warm, sunny, dry! day drives and "Cars & Coffee" events.
Any recommendations for top notch enclosed shipping and/or old school flathead build experts would be greatly appreciated.
My father may have p***ed, but his legacy has not. I'm determined to present and enjoy the results of his expertise and p*** that down to my grandson. Any suggestions or encouraging comments would be welcome! Thank you All!

Welcome to the HAMB from Illinois.

You have a great story and a great rod.

You need to post your story over here:
    https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forums/the-hokey-***-message-board.5/

I suggest you break down your story into smaller pieces, so a thread only has one 'needed' message.
The first thing needed is shipping it to your neighborhood.
Another need is finding someone or a business recommendation in your area who can help you with getting it running.

I hope this gets you started. I look forward to seeing your progress here.

    Welcome from Colorado
    That’s a great story and beautiful 32.
I also have a car that was my dad’s, you will see that every time you drive it your dad will be riding shotgun with you . I sure as hell can’t explain it but you will experience it, I’m looking forward to the day you do!

The story of a family car being resurrected is nothing new but wanting to keep it as dad built it is admirable, I can't offer any help with the engine or the maintenance since I live on the east coast but I can offer a reputable member of the hamb to pick the car up and deliver it to your location.

Bill is a well respected member of the Hamb and will treat you fair, give him a call or shoot him a conversation. HRP
