I thought it looked Anglia-like, but the grill threw me off! Either way, it’s pretty cool looking, just need to be Hotroded!!

More and more. He was way to worried about it being to nice to use much at first. Hopefully here, soon I can take the Doll to a few with him
He’s about 2 hours away, so once the New Tranny Gears get broken in, maybe I will venture a little further out from my circle of influence.
Oh.. and the 2 door windows in.
Starting to cool down around here a bit

    IMG_0759.jpeg IMG_0761.jpeg IMG_0765.jpeg Some more done today.
Decided to tuck and secure the wires better, whilst I had the Floorboard out.
Probably regret it later when I can’t get my fat hands in there!
Kind of miffed my nut inserts aren’t working out as well and I thought!
Some of them are just spinning around because the threads are kind of screwy.
So back to sheet metal screws here in there. Oh well, I’m gonna rubberize it all when I’m done playing around.

Tack the nutserts solid and run a tap through them?

IMG_0768.jpeg IMG_0769.jpeg Got her back together!
Shifts good, but stiff, and now it pops out of second on the way down, up is fine. I think it’s the shifter. I tweaked the concaved washer that’s on top underneath the little pivot, cap and I think it’s hanging up a little bit.
I flatten it a little bit in the vice to tighten it up around the base of the shifter itself because it was sloppy, but I think it’s too tight. I hope that’s it but I don’t care anymore. I’m just driving the son of a bitch!
    Shifts good now anyway !

IMG_0773.jpeg IMG_0772.jpeg IMG_0774.jpeg IMG_0776.jpeg IMG_0775.jpeg Well, I think I figured out why the tranny pops out of second gear!
I had read, or heard something very briefly in one of the videos I saw about the after market D-tents being not as good as the old ones… sure enough when I was putting stuff away, I found the extra ones, and the old ones and sure enough huge difference, but I’m not gonna take it apart. I’m just gonna hold it in second gear for now, and hopefully will break-in eventually.
I got one of the driver windows in, boy that was a bitch!!!
It’s not perfect, but it rolls up now!

    That's a good solution if they're steel...

They really have to be installed with a serious crimp and even with that they are a pretty light duty solution especially on thin gauge material...

Does adding a washer over the nutsert in the back to increase the grip length make sense on thin gauge material if accessible?

The tap really makes sense as any interference increases the chance of failure...

    IMG_0779.jpeg IMG_0780.jpeg IMG_0781.jpeg IMG_0777.jpeg IMG_0778.jpeg FUUUUUU..CCGGGGGGGEEEEE!!!!

I’m really disappointed in the quality of glass !
Come out this morning and now the side window cracked first it was just about an inch and a half.
So I googled how to stop cracks from spreading, then I go outside and the Farging windowi cracked all the way to the top!!!! The car was just sitting there in the garage not doing anything !!!
So all the windows in the 33 are the original glass so far! ( The new windshield broke about 9 months ago installing in the New frame)
So now I’m gonna fix the original 1 door window that wasn’t broken in the door. Apoxsee, the chipped spot like I did on the quarter windows.and
Hope the one aftermarket door window left doesn’t break!!!
    Then I am going to
Call up the glass shop, and see if I can’t get some windows but it’s been 2 1/2 years .

   ...not gonna like that...

original as in 33 original or 70s safety glass original? lots of stuff has a little give but glass isn't one of them...I guess it could be any minor impact causing a chip even if microscopic could take off like that...you are walking a mile in so many shoes here and now its the glass installers...I feel the pain...

In the passenger door without any felt left in it and it didn’t break!!!
I have one good one left wish me luck.

You won’t see the mess once I clean it up because it sits inside the channel!

I think they were from the 70s but it seems to be some kind of tempered heavy duty glass like you’d see you in a muscle cars back then…it’s one piece.
The new ones have the laminated stuff like the original windows back in the day. I assume because that’s what all that bubbling was right?

Any little chip or irregularity in the glass, especially as long as those are, will end up causing a crack if put under any kind of stress. The guy that supplied the glass for a 48 Ford half ton I built was polished on every edge (it was laminated) and rounded the corners at the bottom of the glass where it mounted into the channel. He also used a narrow rubber strip in the bottom of the channel then used urethane glass setting stuff to seat the glass into the channel. His comments were that this eliminated any "preloaded stress" on the glass. Have no idea if all of that was the truth but the glass that went into the doors with no vent windows never broke or cracked. Just my thoughts.

All I know is, that my patience is so thin right now, I feel like taking a rock all the windows! That’s a good idea though. I was thinking about heating up the rubber in the track I did Apoxsee it this time so it has a little give, but hopefully wont come out. but that’s the original 70s window that’s hard as hell!!!
Now that I think about it when I was putting the window in the track it came off, maybe it got a piece of dirt in there when I put it back on?

Fixed the chip on the old one, and didn’t break the last new one!!!
I sanded the window on all edges, rounded corners, and then I epoxyied the edge of the glass on the bottom and then I glued the window into the channel so there’s no way it’s gonna crack unless somebody beats this time!!!

If it does crack… I’m gonna take my pistol, and I’m gonna go full Bonnie and Clyde on all the windows!!
    Dammit!!!

Well, test drove it on the freeway with all the windows shut and it’s actually pretty darn airtight….. for a 90 year old
Anyway! My Arvin heater Should make up the difference no Problem!
Still have to hold the shifter in Second gear, but the Tranny seems fine otherwise.

IMG_0819.jpeg IMG_0820.jpeg It was nice cruising to work this morning with the windows in it, and the heater! Although the heater doesn’t get real hot cause the engine only runs 150 when it’s cool.
It was only in the 50s this morning, so not real cold yet.

    Yup!
And for some reason I got at least 7 thumbs up, 4 honks! 8 looks, and a girl at work who followed me in the gate this morning, hunt me down this afternoon to check it out! I let her sit in it! So. Different when a car has family History, and I resurrected it from the Dead! chills really.

The lower door rubber, and scuff plate on the passenger side. the new glove box in.

but for the life of me, I cannot remember how the spring for the hinge gets shoved under for the door to work properly. I know the spring tab rests against the bottom? Does anybody have a picture or drawing or something of how it goes cause I just can’t remember or figure it out?

PS. Hopefully my redneck coolant catch will keep all the spray off of everything.
    Thanks

    But I like ketchup better...:D

All good, I guess the glass is no longer being an ass...yay

Things are moving forward nicely for the most part...you need a bit of smoother sailing after the glass...
