Mild chop about 2 inches to keep a better proportion with the lowered body.

    Hello,

Our friend had a two door Chevy coupe. He never chopped the top, as it would have taken too long to be out of commission from the afterschool job or daily high school. He wanted a lowered two door coupe with a dark color, but schoolwork, job and teen activities took up a lot of time, so his idea was just an idea.

I originally drew a two door coupe and after drawing the original top, it looked too tall in the saddle. The dome top room was too high. I looked at other photos to see why mind looked too tall and they all looked similar. To some, it looked just right. A backwards Goldilocks vision… so I kept lowering the top until it looked proportionate to the body. My wife mentioned it looked no different than when I started, so, there is that.

Perhaps, the way I have my laptop screen angle, the old tired eyes, the time spent getting the lines right, all play into a view of the drawing that shows something different. But, the final color and design seems to fit into my perspective of a nice Chevy two door coupe/sedan.

On the topic of… “Does it make my **** too big…” Is it the color or do the scallops angle up instead of being drawn level? Checking with a straight edge, they are straight where it counts… My wife says the bottom curving scallop makes the eye think the whole thing is crooked… but then the chrome strip... YRMV

Nothing like the last minute to get something built, painted and striped for next Friday... Should have the steel version welded together this morning.

This is a vintage suite case that I was commissioned to paint for a friend, his buddy Lou has a shop that was originally an old livery stable and adjacent to a cemetery in Unionville PA! that's why it's "Last Chance Garage"

A simple, yet fun project for a friend that made his first trip to Speed Week this year.

32 Green.jpeg IMG_5280.JPG IMG_5277.JPG Well here I am again, a day late and art project short. Fact is I have been busy in the garage with my latest project, while waiting for my motor work for my roadster, so I can get that back on the road. The least I can do is post a photo of my latest coupe project. It is kind of a do over of a finished car to a fender less car. it will be a long ongoing project. Many changes being made. I know I should start a build / progression page. I have a few more photos of some of the changes, but on my way to garage to work on coupe before Hershey. No time right now!
