    They ran a 260 Ford. Looks like they stretched the frame. I'll take some pictures if I find evidence of that.
    I have a build thread, the Drury, Fowler Holmes, Kugel Belly Tank Lakester Rebuild.

    Ron Benham was quite the builder. The car I remember best that he built was a Compe***on Coupe for land speed records. It had the rule writers in a tizzy. I'm guessing he was the first to put the wheels inside the body of a lengthened Crosley. It went on to set records by Ron and later lengthened more with another owner. He called it the Ill-Eagle (sp?) and had a cartoon on the hood of a puking bird.

    I'm hoping JD can fix or add to this post.

    {In retrospect, I (unlicensed and unprepared) drove a fuel-burning Monza C/Cl***ic Fuel Altered Coupe built originally by Benham to a speed of 175 MPH at Bonneville not knowing what gear I was in and where exactly I was. To the best of my knowledge, that car still holds the Bonneville record at 243 set over 30 years ago.}

    Do you think that they ran it without a transmission? Looks like Drury added 2 feet to the frame.. PXL_20230925_225409927.jpg

    Visited Pomona drags 5-6 years ago from Texas. Went to ElMirage Saturday and Pomona on Sunday. Parked inside the complex(must have been someone important enuf to get inside parking) was a neat Model A roadster with what appeared to be a Pontiac engine. Imagine my surprise when I walked over to the drivers side of the roadster and saw a blown Pontiac 4 banger set up on a street driven roadster. I've talked to that guy with the 4 cylinder pont in the model a few times he always comments on my Thompson valve covers and says if you ever find one, I'll buy it and I tell him i have 2 sets. He just wants to buy one, not a pair

    Thanks for the history on these early single port injectors. Found this while searching for info on them. 20230930_115132.jpg

    I think this is a Hilborn unit. Picked it up last weekend.

    Do you know when Ron built the Baby Whale? I'm trying to trace the entire history.
