Thanks. I joke around about Chevies and I'm mostly a Ford guy, but I like and can appreciate them all. The Wife's Nomad has a 350. Twenty plus years ago I put a ZZ4 in my Buddies '50 Mercury along with 7R4, 9", A/C, power disc brakes and power steering. It's what he wanted. In 1996 I rebuilt my first Flathead (not stock) for my '50 Shoe Box. Drove it every day and did 2 trips each to Nebraska and Florida, and one to Georgia. Did as much as 800 miles in one day. I put 80k miles on it in just over 10 years. The only time it saw a trailer was when I would break a transmission. . .12 times and twisted one axle. Like I said, the motor was not stock and I DROVE it.

  3. Here’s a picture I took with the newly painted front end. Got rid of 45 years worth of stone chips.

Spot lights, twice pipes, full wheel covers and fender skirts looking right at home on a 40 PU. "Ice, Ice, Johnny" knew his stuff.

That's me, it made racking leaves that year more enjoyable...although it took me longer as I kept looking back at it!

To everyone who has contributed to this thread I am greatly enjoying it. One of the very best. We did not get 39 deluxe/40 Fords as you know them here in the UK. While we had Ford V8s they resembled US 37 / 38 Fords to some extent and we never to my knowledge had Coupes. We also had the Ford Pilot (47 to 53) which resembled the American 36 Ford from the front and the rest similar to the 37 Ford.

Old blue eyes ready to go in the garage after a hard days work in the foothills of the Cascade mountains. It's almost front end Friday anyway. The little flathead powered car led the group today for a 100 mile site seeing tour without a hiccup!
