They make their own. Based on their location and the verbiage in some of their product descriptions, I suspect they got started by supplying coating to the shipyards in Norfolk and Portsmouth, VA.
OK, I thought somebody said it was a mom & pop outfit, didn't realize it was large enough to create their own chemicals. So they're bigger than an outfit like summit if they have that capability.
No need to create chemicals when making paint you buy all the raw materials from chemical and pigment companys and then mix them up.
I've used Route 66 Auto Color for years, real nice variety and ships fast. https://www.66autocolor.com/
That semi gloss black is about what I'm looking for for the model A PU. good looking truck . Has it held up well and have you had to wash the truck much ?
As loveoftiki said check with your local paint jobber. All the major auto paint manufacturers have middle and economy lines of paint. A good paint jobber will give you plenty of support with your paint project. Always try to buy local.
The only company that seems to offer the colour and finish I want in something ready to spray is TCP with Hot Rod Flatz. Their prices are good so I'll give them a shot when I get to that stage. Plus they're below Canada VOC limits so they can be shipped up here without issue.
Any paint store can sell you flattened paint in any colour and sheen you want. The other thing is shipping paint into Canada will cost as much or more than the paint itself with all the extra dangerous goods charges, duties and brokerage UPS charges.
There is a jobber in Calgary called Global that has sprayouts showing a bunch of different sheen levels. Anyone can flatten paint they just add a flattening agent but the sprayouts were cool as they gave you a pretty good idea of what the different percentage of flattening did to the paint. They just opened a location in Edmonton but they don't have their store front up and running yet.
I see they have a location about 5 minutes from my company's Calgary office. Maybe I'll pop in when I'm down there next. Edit: in my searching for them I found there's a body shop supply called Best Value on the close side of Edmonton to me that I wasn't aware of before. Score!
When you say Enamel are you talking acrylic enamel? Your car has the perfect depth in my opinion! I painted an off topic LBC with acrylic Urethane and it looks very good but to my eye way too “deep” as when our cars were new the paint looked more like your car...
Luckily I’m about half an hour to the border and my mailbox. Anything I buy from the US I order to my mailbox and just cross the line to pickup. Pretty tough on anyone that can’t do that.
Yep, K13 and I are around the most Northern large city in Canada, makes getting to the border much more than just an errand. I envy those of you that have that option.
