Basically I bought a 1926 model T Coupe. Really bought it for the body and a few items. I plan on building my own ch***is at this point. I should say at this point I am a novice at all of this but have been a hot rod lover since 1968. I am retired have the time and the tools and want to feel my way through this process. I have some friends who have done it and they have been very supportive. View attachment 5657143

Had to use 4x6's to get proper lift area the frame can't be lifted due to the fenders. built a simple body dolly out of 4x4s works very well.

question, should I build it a highboy following the Bob Hamilton ch***is build DVD from bucket plans. Or should I go with parallel frame rails?

I have a build thread here too. With MMM1693 and me, you should be able to figure out what not to do.

Save the ch***is to build a speedster. I have a '26 roadster pickup that I need to get out from under the tree, and several feet of snow, and get it ready for parade duty. They're fun, those Ts. :)

My vote is parallel frame and channeled to hide it vs hiboy frame

I did the same thing for a body dolly but I built a raised one for the body work and paint. I've always liked the full fendered tall T coupes with a 50's look.

Think it would look good as a full fendered tall T since you have the parts. I just had the body.

  13. My only advice is build your ch***is and do your body first, the engine and running gear is the easy bit and finished engines/gearboxes tend to sit for sometimes years waiting for a body and ch***is.

That is fantastic for height and working on it, I had planned on picking the body up with the lift to get a good working height. I may need to do what you did.

Thanks for including a link to my project. I consider that a high honor. Mine is not as nice or well built as the others. But thank you.

You have a beautiful car there. I would love to hear some more of your plans for it?

@coastguy57 what is your preferred style of car?
I love T's of all styles, but with so much clean metal it's screaming for a full fendered Tall T
    As @goldmountain said.

I love all Model T Fords. My only advice: most of the hot rods that have no fenders were built that way, because the builder did not have any fenders available. If you have a good set, by all means use them. These cars are easy to change. Swap fenders off and on whenever you want.

I was looking for a T coupe body to build a fenderless hot rod when I came across this pretty rough but complete '26. I changed my mind and put the fenders on it. I'm glad I did. IMG_0522.JPG
