You got that right, Dennis made these two, one for our club and one for a club that was established in the 50's ( Tarantulas) 007.JPG upload_2018-4-10_11-0-17 (1).jpeg

    He's doing a great job.

I've contributed part numbers and images to another old car database but been disappointed that the new additions never get added or acknowledged, I guess the owner lost interest.

  6. I almost didn't see the little 'clickie' at the bottom of the opening post.
I just discovered that there were 2 past tense clubs in my little hometown that were around long enough to have issued plaques.

made me laugh seeing the club plaques painted on the rocks...and it stirred a childhood memory...
on US 66 thru Tijeras canyon someone framed a big 'Jesus Saves' on one off the large granite boulders
underneath it someone painted 'Moses Invests'......

I always thought of the pearl white/green scalloped Chev as the **** Ward/Harold Johnson car.
Did Bill own it at one time?

  17. It's great to see that this sickness of ours has been around for a long time, and infested the far corners of the Earth. Bill's site is a testament to this, and he has added dozens of new plaques (including the one from my club that I sent him) over the years. It's good reading through these, especially trying to figure out a new name for a club, everyone I have come up with, someone has beat me to it!

When I got the Bachelor’s ****on, Lanny (original owner/builder) gave me his club plaque. I sent it to O’Brien’s to have some copies made for the family and I was happy to see it added to the library!

Got a PM from Bill yesterday as my contact email for the site had bounced back. To say he cares is an understatement!

Obrientruckers.com has over 12,000 patterns for car club plaques and toppers made in the 1950/60’s with a searchable database by city, club name, etc. They offer recast plaques for $45 a piece. I’ve ordered five for various cities near me so that when I attend a car show or event, I can display a club plaque for the nearest city.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments about my website. As of today I have 11,134 different plaques shown. I often get info with the photos and record them in a spreadsheet I keep. If you're interested in a club, send me the club name and your name and E-mail address and I'll let you know if anyone writes to me about that club.

Dennis O'Brien has contributed over 300 photos and is fourth on my list of contributors. Ten people have sent over 100 photos.

I'm still getting a few new additions each month and will continue to add them as I get them. If you have a plaque that's not shown, send me a photo to my address below.

    "Way Back Story"
In the late 50s n early 60s,I was in 3 rod n custom clubs, cool guys trading skills, info an know hows,,2 clubs had alum. plaque's made, all three had club logo's an t-shirts , I airbrushed for club members of 2 clubs, one was bigger and had shirts printed up by a pro shop.
Plus I did a number of my "Wild Car shirts" by "The Bat"< my art name,
custom shirts with artzy cartoons of there own car often, if they wanted; Monster busting out of car roof> that kind of looked like them:)*,a long with there name ,and or,car club name.
A good number of clubs up north an over on the wrong cost ;), had jackets made with pro embroidered or painted with car club logo n name. Here in south Florida,T-shirts were way better ,it's only cold here {below 60} maybe 4 to 8 days in those days a year..
With the new world of global warming news:p ,we now have a few weeks of below 60s .:D
So thats the way it was:cool:
