You might spot the occasional old Ford or Chevy sitting out in the open sometimes. But here's a couple of odd examples I spied recently in my area. Seeing either one of them by itself at this auto repair shop would have gotten my attention. But seeing both of these slightly unusual orphans sharing the same corner of the parking lot made me stop and take some pictures. This shop usually has just a few customers' cars parked out front and I've never noticed any of them marked as "for sale", but who knows. What we've got here appears to be a '54 Plymouth Belvedere and a last model year '40 LaSalle, both 4 dr sedans. And all things considered they look surprisingly complete. Nearly all the moldings, glass and lamps seem to be there. The LaSalle does have a hole at the base of the windshield and some damage at the front of the hood. But for around this part of the country the bodies of both cars at least aren't all eaten up by rust. I don't have any idea what kind of shape the floors or chassis are in, or the condition of the drivetrains. I also don't know if they are even for sale, and the shop was closed for the day when I stopped by. If you're interested, page me in this thread at @ClayMart and let me know if you've sent me a PM. I can provide you with contact information for the business if you'd like to investigate further.
Hello, Wow, looking at this photo of two old cars makes me hum…this tune from the Archie Bunker show. Everyone tried to write down the words to the song, but until someone bought the music sheets at a record store, we could not figure out what… Gee are o rolla ran great or “Geearola” ran great… etc. While watching the couple sing out of tune on the screen. “Gee our old LaSalle ran great Those were the days…” But, someone always wondered how Archie Bunker could or would drive a La Salle. Jnaki Archie Bunker, what a character, not politically correct ! to say the least… ha! But, due to the interest in cars, the production company slowed down the wording in the later song to actually hear, “GEE, our old La Salle ran great!” YRMV Boy, the way Glenn Miller played songs that made the hit parade Guys like me we had it made Those were the days Didn't need no welfare state ev'rybody pulled his weight gee our old LaSalle ran great Those were the days And you knew who you were then girls were girls and men were men
Actually Carol O'Conner (Archie Bunker) was an avid auto enthusiast. He even had his own auto restoration shop.
Based on the windshield of the LaSalle, I am guessing it's in for grabby brakes and the installation of seat belts.
hmmm....whatever fell on it and dented the hood and broke the windshield, probably was outside the car first.
Years ago before I retired one of my customers had a La Sal limousine behind his paint shop that had been sitting there way before he bought the building. As far as I know it is still there
