Giving the car new life right. Glad i tackled the project, will be taking a vacation from a full build for a while once I'm done!

Thanks for the tips, I'm lucking enough to have friends in that industry so they have helped with lots of little tips etc. The youtube vids have really helped as well as I learn best by watching someone do something. At the end of the day we're not building a show car but it has to be presentable and respectable in my eyes as I don't believe in doing shoddy work.

  4. What filler and colour hardener are you using? I ask because if you have anything other than white hardener it looks like you have under catalyzed your filler which will lead to issues down the road. Hard to tell for sure from pictures but it looks really white.

My buddy who own's a collision centre in town hooked me up with everything so I don't know the brands. The pics make it look whiter I agree, I did lighten the pics so it is misleading. filler is a lot darker in person.

  6. Just wanted to check because there is really not much worse you can do with filler than under catalyze it and it is a very common occurrence during the summer when it is hot out.

Been busily working away at completing the work needed to prior to hauling the frame up to the house. Finished 95% of the bodywork. and squirted some epoxy primer on. Have a few lines to crisp up now that I can see the work better with the primer on then I am finished there. Fabbed up a mount where the radio would have gone where I can hide an AFR gauge along with USB ports for phone charging and the switch for the electric fan. Started on a radio delete type plate that is mounted on a hinge so I can access when needed and hide otherwise as the interior will be 100% stock minus the two custom gauges that I will mount in the traditional spot under the glove box. Body worked the dash after I filled in the holes where the after market gauges were mounted before. Scored a nice set of original one piece bumpers with even the brackets still on them. Great buy and a killer price so couldn't go wrong there. Did the big haul today and brought the frame up and rolled under the body as I had pulled the body off the rotisserie and have it sitting on some stands I built. I have to finish the rear trunk body mount replacement which I'll do with the body up on the stands then I can drop it down on to the frame and get everything lined up. We're in for a real nice stretch of weather so have a few weeks to finish this work up then I can close up the shop for the winter and settle in to complete the rest of the build. Having fun now that's for sure.

AND with this weekend the last of the rust repair is complete!!!! Insert cheers and high fives here ______ :D
With the body off the rotisserie I was able to replace the tail pan support brace. I got lucky and only had to cut out a little bit of bad stuff on the passenger corner so I was able to keep the tail pan in place and did not have to replace. Less body work and no paint blending back there so that works for me! After i got the brace all welded in I finished off the area with the POR15 so all under car work is done!! I'll drop the body onto the frame this week and then I can start on the next phase which will be the fun stuff! Still waiting on paint so I can start to chip away at the mechanical. Exhaust is already fully built. Starting to see some light in the tunnel. All goes to plan she'll be on the road in the spring.

Tucked away in my warehouse as my shop at home isn't big enough for the two cars with all the tools, benches etc. Someday I'll have a bigger shop!

Yes White Post. Cool spot to go poke around and Canadian Hot Rods is located just behind them as well.

Big milestone for the build as I got the body mounted onto the frame. Very happy with how everything went and the RS frame is as advertised with the body dropping nicely onto the frame with zero interference and just a couple shims needed. Have the car lifted onto some nice high blocks now so I can easily get under the car. I definitely have room for wider wheels/tires in the rear now that I have the body on the frame. I'll mull that over for the winter and decide what to do. I can easily run the ones that are on it for now so no rush. Onto the fun part of the program now! Anyone that wants to see more pics (HAMB illegal) here is the link to the build thread on the Trifive.com site.

The struggle is real! Need a bigger shop but the missus doesn't want to move until the youngest grads which is in two years. We'll see how that all plays out... haha

A little old red oxide primer on the areas of the doors where they will get weathered to match up to the rest of the aged paint on the car. Kinda fun doing a little patina work like this.

Keep marching away at various tasks. Restored the original steering column and finished the conversion so it's like new columns with bearings top and bottom. Exhaust is installed and I got the AFR gauge bung welded in along with the Moroso vacupan tubes. First coat of POR 15 on the trunk pan today as well. Second coat on tomorrow and then carry on with more tasks. Weather has been super nice out here so taking advantage of the warm weather to keep doing work in the shop with the door open. White stuff will be on the ground before we know it!

Last winter up at my Dad's place with my son and pup. It's coming! But that's what heated hot rod shops are for... All cozy turnin wrenches on our beloved vehicular family members right @Stogy :D

Wasn’t the original plan to have the car body worked and painted.

Originally yes but for now we are sticking with the original paint. Thousands saved, no paint jail and I can get the car done much quicker. Maybe someday but not for now

Should have done that with mine. Just wanted 1/4’s fixed up then ok, let’s paint this thing “I” said. Now everything had to look new.
