Google is your friend. Waze is also great and really good for alternate routes if it's too plugged up.
On most drag and drive events you have to stick to the specified route or you'll be kicked out of competition. There are a few exceptions, but in general that's how it is.
would be helpful if you could pre-run the event a week in advance but where is the fun in that? I can see squirrel now, "pilot to navigator, where the hell are we?"
I can still see you asking yourself, so you're pilot, navigator and bombardier all rolled into one, pack your own chute and toss them trucker bombs wide and clear
Getting close! Friday I head up to Phoenix for the adventure. I think the car is ready, I guess I'll find out what else I should have done. I still need to study the route more to get a handle on how available gas is on the long stretches. My range is less than 150 miles, how much less depends on driving conditions. The route has been modified a little, it's still going to be pretty wild. https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/v...ll=34.748167979919515,-116.41696999999999&z=7
Looks like my Nephew is going to make it. Building a hitch today so he can haul the kitchen sink as well. This is the most I can show.
Route details have been published...if you're in the neighborhood, say "hi" https://www.sickthemagazine.com/death-week
Check point in Laguna Beach at Rubys.......you're going to hit traffic going from Dana Point to the 101 (in Oxnard) traveling on Coast Hwy. Like @jnaki said, it'll be a nice ride...but slow. I'll be at work on Monday, keep up the posting if you can, be safe and of course have loads of fun.
Hi Jim, you'll be in my town (Fresno/Clovis) along the route. I'll come out and say hi. You need anything, please reach out. send me a PM and I'll send you my number if you need it. as always, Stay Safe, and Thanks for taking us along BigMike
All this advice you're getting to "have fun" AND "be safe" seems kind of contradictory. Sounds like asking a man to walk a pretty fine line. So to quote a former co-worker I'll just recommend that you "get out there and knock 'em stiff"!
Thanks! I got registered. Got a room. Will probably go back to the track soon and watch guys making test runs. As far as I know there is no live video of this event.
Should the HAMB brigade along the route keep a 5 gallon can of gas with them as you drive by to say Hi,, just in case,.....
