  4. Hi there Hyfire, This is what I know:
A guy named Jerry Adams owned Power Automotive and my Fiat Topolino. He sold it from his showroom at Power Automotive in the fall of 1968. Soon there after, the shop changed it's name to Speed City. Jerry Adams still owned the shop. He sold speed parts and drag raced. He died a few years ago. I have yet to find anyone who knows much else. The shop was at the corner of 52 and 20th in Kenosha. What are you looking for?

    Greetings...

As you had seen, my vintage racer (Rambler) says Speed City on it... Has 2 cities with Kenosha being one of them.

I thought Speed City built it becuase it the logo is large and has a choice local, but Krooser tipped me off to a WI Local who was familiar with Speed City of Kenosha. The old guy said 4 people owned Speed City and they only sold parts. 2 of the owners are still alive, but I don't have thier names. The old timer was hesitant to talk to me about Speed City... I couldnt tell if he didnt trust me or felt that way about the shop. Got the feeling the shop was questionable or something... He didnt want to discuss it's owners, but if it was owned by 4 people I would imagine the sh*t hit the fan before closing as businesses with 4 owners seem apt to blow up sooner or later.

What I found out about my car is that Speed City was only a sponsor. Hope this gives you something to help you out. I ***ume that the sister store in IL was the one my car's driver got parts from becuase it was local for him.

    Best Regards,
    Hyfire

Speed City was on like 20th Ave and 52St. In Kenosha.
In 1978 I bought a set of American clover leaf wheels for my truck and later a intake for a Chevy and I also remember getting 2 Carter jet kits for a dual quad set up I bought used.
Another good speed shop was Dixon automotive in Waukegan Il right over the border...people would be standing in line when they would open up on Saturday morning.
Dixon is still around on Hyw 41.

The original Speed City was on 7th Ave. & 48th St. by St. Georges church, I grew up right around the corner. Was owned by Mike Davis and he also had the Speed City in Waukegan, Ill. Spent a lot of time (and money) there. Guy behind the counter was Greg (Zaluski ??)

I just saw this thread. I frequented Speed City all the time. I remember spending quite a bit of time BS’ing with Greg.

About 15 years ago I was hired by a friend who purchased this car, and wanted a painted panel for it. I have since relocated to another part of the country and have lost touch with the owner. I have no idea if he still owns it or not. I do remember that the 'spider web' design on the front was important to him. Fiat.jpg Fiat.jpg
