All kind of good things this weekend around the state.. SUX have to do that NASTY 4 letter word.... WORK !
Nice Hotrod @squirrel...that's what I call it anyway...minimal lettering with the Plan very, very obvious...
My buddy is down there running his White 55 with a Blown 392 Hemi… Just talked to him, he said the track is packed and that I’m really missing out on a great time!
We got home this morning....that was a fun event I got into the $5k Budget Beater race, as a blatantly Bogus car. They figured out that they needed to let the Bogus cars run in a race, so I entered knowing I'd get to race the other Bogus cars (Bogus means that is obviously worth more than $5k). So I ended up beating the other Bogus cars, until I had to race the 8 second off topic truck. It was fun, I think the fans liked watching my turd make a bunch of 10 second passes. Sam made a few high 8 second runs in Freiburgers 31 A. That's a pretty neat car, I finally got a chance to look it over and talk to Freiburger about it. The body is all old Ford stuff, probably painted in the 50s. And the go fast stuff is kind of modern, but built simply and works well. Not many HAMBish cars, but there were a few. I'll have to look through my pictures and see what I can find to post here.
It’s actually David Freiburger’s car. We partnered up on it, and I did the cage, and the Wednesday Garage Night group helped me build a lot of it. The same guys helped built the BFD and a lot of other cars with me in my garage… David did the engine, installed it, wiring and plumbing. We did windows, inside tin work, rear suspension, front suspension mods, motor plates and I made the headers… plus all the other fabrication needed on a car like this. I’ve been on several Roadkill Garage episodes with the car. David is very generous, and basically has said I can take it and drive it anytime I want. He has also had me drive it for him at the last three Ducttape Drags. He’s gone 8.501 at 155 in it and I’ve gone 8.52 at 155. It’s a BEAST! I’m also working on building my own version of this car… different, but just as fast… ok, maybe faster. We’ll see. these pics are all of me driving. I have at least 25 passes in it.
I said hi to you too when you brought the car in, but didn't know who you were to introduce myself. The A is great! I got a chance to look it over, and talk with David about it a little. He stressed how he went to a lot of trouble to make the car as simple as possible. I think it's a great combination.
That's such a badass car man, I watched all the episodes of it on roadkill garage, and you're nothing short of a damn genius! Killer job on that car
Looking great out there Jim. And yea, David's Model A is very well built. I love that little monster. When I re-wire mine I want to do the job very much like David did his. He spent a lot of time designing the wiring lay out and systems.
Is this same David that has the yellow Highboy Roadster and helped Joey out with welding tech and fabbing of his Roadster?
