  1. Couple of curiosity items..... Are you a Brownsville boy from Kentucky or a Kentucky boy from Brownsville? Also where did you find that gorgeous little gal? (Your newest love, not all those old ones)... hahaha

My present home base is Brownsville TX. I’m known on here as a bit of a gypsy and I go where the work is wherever it is, nation and world wide. Kentucky is just my latest project. I got this out of corn country nearby (for me anyway).

I intend to be a good caretaker, I’ll have it for as long as I’m able and pass it on to the next person but it won’t be chopped up and rolling on 20’s. It really is a survivor, so anything I do will be reversible.

Very nice! I had one very much like that in '67-68, Black with maroon interior. My brother and I drove it to California and back. Summer of '67.

Well, I was thinking the customary “left elbow out the window” type stuff;)

So how does it run, drive, etc?

It doesn’t have a plate yet, title is in the mail from the state of Kentucky. When I drove it on the test drive it sealed the deal. It is the smoothest old car pre-65 that I’ve ever driven. No squeaking or rattling parts. The engine pulled hard in third from 35 to 60 and the shifter is smooth. Engine doesn’t smoke either. It handles well and the brakes work as they should, manage your expectations for drums all around, no leaks there either. The only thing that I wonder about with regards to the engine would be that there is no oil filter.

The 235 often didn’t have an oil filter. You just have to regularly change the oil. If you keep on top of maintenance they last. It’s not the horror show that people often think. The last non oil filter engine I had had been round the clock twice.

There was an optional filter but it was a bypass type so only a proportion of the oil was sent through it.

Think you’ve got a corker there.

I had the same way of thinking as well on more doors and station wagons but somehow certain cars are cool. Getting old , I assumed you would be set in your ways.
