Lots of 30's and 40's Fords ended up as race cars. Jalopies, Hardtops, Super modifieds. I remember going to dirt track races as a kid in the 60's and 70's I saw the transition of supermodifieds going from early ford bodies to fabricated aluminum as the early ford bodies became difficult to find. Road signs were constantly disappearing in those days. I knew a couple of mechanics that opened a shop together. One liked Chevy's , the other Fords. I wish I could remember all the banter that went on between them at the end of the work day . Constantly picking on the other brands failings. They must have spent a huge amount of time thinking up digs at each other. It was really fun to listen to.

From the stories my mom told us about winters in South Dakota in those early years they would have frozen to death if not for the firewood collected from all the old Chevys.

Because Chevy owner didn't want to wreck their cars, Ford owners didn't care. :p
