I had a Wanted ad running for an Auburn hood on another site. A guy from Canada saw it and bought it at the ACD annual meet, then offered it to me. Never knew there was Northern Border troubles with getting things in and out of Canada, but he somehow got it back out and we meet at Hershey, nice new friend that I'll see at future Hershey meets.

 

That hood looks fantastic, Bob!!! I've been trying to find a 40-46 Hudson hood for the speedster project- no luck yet, but hopefully one will pop up

November first, got the first light snowfall for the season. Goal this month is to cut the pieces to shape for the left rear door and maybe poke around with the front fender I started to modify.

 

I started on the Right Rear Door, (February 1922) but I'm glad I stopped and got the Front Door figured out. The top of the Rear Doors need to match the top of the Victoria Door top. Some sheet metal shop time will be needed, and four feet of TIG welding

 

Last night was very productive, I cleaned off the large bench to make room to place the left rear door on it, filled two boxes with tools and odds & ends. One mystery piece was a section of a bottom patch panel, where it came from is a total mystery. The great thing about it is it is dead ringer match for the top bead of a Victoria door! This solves the problem of making the rear door tops match the fronts. Quit when I got two of the three sections of door beading to match. Some cutting tonight will produce the inner piece that will make everything mate, this is a lot easier than the front door.

 

Made the fixture to hold the parts together last night. The white blocks show the 10 inch tall window height.

 

Camera broke yesterday, glad I photographed most of these books a few weeks ago, I'll be listing them today, no project progress in the last few weeks. Non car books will be on the Antiques section of the cl***ifieds by days end. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

 

December is here, and I haven't done a thing on the projects, and I can't see anything happening until after the new year. Cleaning up the work area is the only thing that should happen.

Happy New Year Bob...I really like your approach to these doors...It's no surprise really as you thought about this so heavily the blueprint is in your mind...Making space is paramount to making room for things to fall into place...something I'm constantly fighting myself...many times it's just shop night to organize and free up the space...

It's a good time of year to tackle it too...

 

That Drivers side door should get TIG'ed in a few weeks, some bits on the rear door too. Then it is on the the Right Rear Door.

 

Good day today, started out with taking Hank for his morning walk. A house midway up the street had a bunch of trucks and trailers in the yard, it is being sold, family built it and moved in in 1963. The SBC collection of 283's and 327's is off to a new location, all 10 or 12 of them, looked like a swap meet on my own street. Called Steadfast and talked with the owner about the kickup kit for the A body on a '32 frame. I'll need both, so the pile of unwanted stuff for sale will get taller. I can start at the cowl and make progress without buying anything.

 

More free firewood! A tree has 360 degrees to choose to fall on, glad this one picked the wall and neighbors driveway.

 

Found out the top chop on The Warbaby Sport Coupe has 10 inch tall gl*** just like the Steelback will have.



Motivation is lacking so I have nothing to update. The next big step in buying '32 frame rails so I can have a base to modify the sub frame and attach the back of the body to the main section. Listing a lot of stuff I have no need fore to fund the pruchase.

 

After 60 years I've decided I'd rather have a pair of '32 Ford frame rails than my cast iron door stop. Mr. Frog is in the cl***ified section in search of a proper new home. Fitting the body to a '32 frame will allow me to fit the back body section, cowl, and know how long the hood will be. It is the next big financial step, there are other odds and ends that need new homes as well, time I start moving the stuff other people will fine some joy in.

 

March 1st is about over, nothing to report other than I'll try to sell off everything I don't need or want. Need to have a '32 Frame here to make any major progress.

 

IT'S TIME! This was my wish list item Christmas 1961. Dad ripped his right index finger on the knockoff trying to start it. It NEVER RAN! Shelf item for 63 years. 1932 Frame Rail Fund donor and future memory maker for someone else now. Just placed it in the cl***ified section. Bob

 

Found this today in a box of odds & ends made by H. Mueller Mfg. in Decatur, Ill. Listing it for frame funds. Thought the history was interesting especially the 1895 auto racing part.

Spent an hour looking for a saber saw, and found it! Got to make another pattern, but at least I did something other than find and list things to fund the frame rail purchase.

 

Made a fixture to cut circles with a saber saw. Took three tries before I cut a perfect match to the rear wheel well. Someday when I have the '32 Frame rails I can use this to center the body to the rear axle.

 

Another month has come to an end, time for another ba*****t cleaning. No major progress other than those cardboard wheel well cutouts. Listed a lot of odds & ends and want to thank the HAMB members that are the new caretakers, '32 Ford frame rail fund is growing. Started on the stone wall rebuild in the back yard, I built it dry 45 years ago and it has moved, so this time there is cement involved. I find that work relaxing, and it is a challenge moving a stone twice my weight. Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! Sold off some New Zealand stamps for frame rail funds.

 

I keep moving stuff around looking for stuff to list and sell to fund the '32 frame rail purchase , and made enough room to work on the project. Cowl has to come up an inch or better to match the belt molding. To do that the cowl needs to be cut at the base of the windshield post. First three hours I've spent on it a long time. Some fresh Saber Saw blades and I'm good for more progress tomorrow.

 

Removed that rotted angle piece that the cowl bottom bead wraps around, Snyder's sells new ones. With them out of the way I can fit the cowl to the doors and move on to the top of the cowl attaching under the windshield. Flea market tomorrow, good weekend so far.

UPDATE: Found those pieces in the Snyder's catalog, they call them 1930-31 "Inner Cowl Bottom Patches" part number is A-014-X at $21.25 EACH
