More than a year ago I watched a video on youtube of a guy with a 1938 or 39 ford pickup who took it for appraisal. It looked like he dragged it out of the barn, washed it and coated it with linseed oil. But it had a gold colored 5.0 ford motor a c4 and airbags. It appraised for 35k I am trying to find that video to show my wife. Thanks in advance.
Your insurance agent is not going to accept an appraisal on a different truck as indicator of value on yours. I'd recommend going with Hagerty or Grundy and they'll typically do a declared value for you that matches the truck's current value.
I watch a bunch of tubes, and that doesn't ring a bell. Most don't get appraisals on their cars, and if they do, it's going to something like auto nation to show how much it was liquid worth (wholesale, cash on the spot). Do you remember what type of pro gave this number? Insurance, dealer, 'specific vehicle' expert', another influence dude?
Thats the truck. It was possibly hagertys or some other big appraiser doing an expo where peope took their car in and they had a bunch of expert appraisers give their opinion of the vehicles. I ***ume it was in CA. I searched but cant find it. When I did watch it before it just popped up on my feed. My truck will be my daily driver so hagertys and grundys wont cover it. I have all my other vehicles with state farm and hopefully I can have them cover the truck.
I didn't address it in my first post, because I was trying to help you find the video and others had already tried to offer alternatives. Now that you have clarified the situation and it is clear you want to argue with your agent about the value of the truck, I will say that when you want something your way, a youtube video isn't a good reference. If you want a high dollar value ***igned to your daily transport, understand the contract and it's limitations, back up your opinion of value by having it appraised professionally and work with your agent to get the coverage you want by having them in your corner. If a loss happens, you want to have them fighting on your behalf and have all the questions and concerns the main company will bring up answered before you make the first payment. We all are interested in vintage vehicles that are not easy to ***ign value, much more difficult to find parts and repair places for and generally a tough niche for big conglomerates to handle in their modern appliance systems. There have been a lot of cases where very late model cars were totaled simply due to being unable to get parts in a timely manner due to supply chain issues and the complexity of the systems in them. Understand that just as a 5 year old toyota isn't what you want, a system designed to handle them isn't geared to work with your prewar truck. Shop different companies and find the best fit for your cir***stances and do***ent the heck out of the contract before a claim, because that is when the real fight starts.
You have the wrong insurance company and the wrong insurance. Insure your vehicle with Hagerty by purchasing an agreed upon value policy - you pay for what you value your vehicle at. Add the Cherished Salvage Coverage additional coverage to your policy. In the event of a loss - they give you back your insured vehicle for free. @ https://www.hagerty.com/insurance/c...ditional-coverages/cherished-salvage-coverage Jim
Thats all nice but hagerty wont cover my truck as a daily driver. I did the online questionare and my truck is out side what they cover. My truck looks similar to the one in the video except my truck started out as a 99T that I fitted a 91Y 1 ton express back onto so it physically looks like a 91Y but its really a 99T.
Here is why I have “the wrong insurance” they wont cover a daily. They wont cover a 99T. They wont cover a vehicle thats driven to work 1 day a week on a regular basis. Anyhow back to searching for the video.
They specifically say they do not insure daily drivers. They also deny covarage if you dont have secure inside parking.
So - if you choose to designate an unconventional vehicle as what you cl***ify as a “ daily driver “ then you are going to bear the cost of comprehensive damage in the event of an accident. Insurance is calculated on predictable loss based on known costs - your vehicle does not have a predictable risk to insure. Jim
This thread went from me lookng for a video to show my insurance guy to insurance talk. I dont need help finding insurance but some here clearly dont understand their insurance and should read what is not covered. I have had 3 not at fault total losses 2 from fire and 1 colision and each time the insurance company tried or did screw me over and they used the wording on my insurance to do it. So just because you paid an insurance company dose not mean you are covered. Back to looking for the video
I may be wrong but I think the owner of that truck is HAMB member @Blake84 He did a good build on his 59 F100
Dude, take your truck to get certified appraisal, as my initial comment stated, NO insurance agent is going to accept a random youtube video of someone else's truck as proof of your truck being worth a similar amount. They might accept auction results if you can find similar trucks at past Me***/BJ auctions.
Technically not wrong. To qualify you have to insure 3 or more vehicles with them. I already did that runaround and it would cost me double what I am paying on the other 2 cars to get coverage on my truck. So when I said they wont cover my truck I made an honest statement but to satisfy you I will put it this way. They will only cover my truck if I insure 2 additional vehicles to get that coverage option but its still not covered as a daily driver but my modern car will be covered as a daily driver at double what it costs now.
