Technical Question - 1932 Axle and 1929 Model A Unsplit Wishbone

I have been working on mocking up the front suspension for my 1929 Model A roadster and have run into a snag. I was planning on using an original 1932 axle with an unsplit 1929 Model A wishbone to help lower it but when mocking it up I realized that the distance between the perch mounts on the 1932 axle is wider than the original 1929 axle (and wishbone).

I had seen lots of posts about the difference in height of the perch mount and the need for a 0.25" spacer with the 1932 axle but somehow missed the fact that the perch width is different.

So my question is how have folks been able to run 1932 axles on Model A's without a split wishbone (there seem to be multiple build threads where folks indicated they have taken this approach)?

Can the wishbone be heated and widened slightly?

If I don't want to split the wishbones do I need to / should I switch to a Model A dropped axle instead of the 1932?

    All advice greatly appreciated.

Set one side, have your friend pull the other side into place and set the Perch in there. It's been pretty common for the wishbone to spring back together a little bit and need minor caressing's for installation. Don't forget to reverse the Spring Eye's prior to re install for that perfect mildly lower stance.

Thanks NealinCA and TERPU. I am on the road all week but will spend some time next weekend comparing them side by side as well as double checking the measurements on the wishbone. Appreciate the quick responses.

  5. When you have a front axle dismanteled, the wishbones would closed a bit and looks like they no fit in the axle perch holes! tried to open applying force would help when you intalling the wishbones.

Thanks - stacked on top of each other it looks like there is about a 1/8” difference in the hole distance in each of the castings but pulling on the wishbone worked. Appreciate the advice.
