Technical Chevy Truck Hood?

I saved this hood a while ago from an old junk yard that was selling/scrapping the last remaining items before selling the property. I had no idea what it was at the time.

After some looking, the sides appear to be a match to early thru mid '40s Chevy truck. However, all of those hoods appear to have come to a point at the front. So, my question is: Did somebody just do a really good job of removing the front portion or have I incorrectly identified the hood?
