Any progress with this? About 10 years ago I bought a brand new dual Offy intake from Exeter auto parts. The Holley 1904s are plentiful on fleabay and once in a while at swap meets.

Patriot makes a header for the 223 but it only fits the trucks. I have one that I plan on modifying to fit the car.

  2. Most cam manufacturers will regrind the stock cam to something a little more aggressive. I know that Schneider and Clay Smith have 223 profiles for regrinds, but don't sell new 223 performance cams. Several years ago I spoke with Isky himself about a 223 cam and he said the same thing, not enough of a market to offer a new cam, but his guys could regrind mine no problem.
Clay Smith makes new lifters, and Johnson used to make adjustable lifters.

I had a 223 in a 60 Ford pickup I just changed the rear end ratio put a header on it and got an adapter for a two barrel off of a flat head. It was able to do seventy mph

You may want to talk with some of the figure-8 guys, most of them are now gone. I'm not sure what they are running at Riverhead, but 6 cylinders were all I saw back in the day.

Yea might have been a safety regulation

@bobss396 there’s a fakebook page for Islip & Freeport speedways that is pretty good.

I would like to know the real reason for 6-cylinders in that cl***. I looked up SAFER which is the local sanctioning body. It was a re-direct to FB, I don't have a current account.

The guy that would know is Marty Himes, unfortunately he p***ed away last week. It could be to slow them down. I recall seeing them warm up with street stocks at times, they kept up.

When I raced, there was a September World Championship race, cars came in from all over and most were 8-cylinders. There may have been a weight handicap.

Clifford Manufacturing makes a beautiful side draft pair with a manifold and a headers combo-, but it is pricey!

I don’t mean to hijack this thread but there’s some interesting roundy round stuff going on.

This is great. I had raced with Neal, haven't seen him in a few years. He's the same age as me, but he jumped into it 10 years before I did. I see some old timers now and then and will ask them as well.

Oh, I didn't think a 300 had a cross flow head. Did you cut the intake ports on the driver's side?
