Mopar Gurus, I need help on a 318-3 set of heads

    All i see thats diff besides the head and the U shape cut out over the heat cross over is the intake toward the back,is that for a water passage on the intake toward the rear ? Here is a pic of a 413 chry /eldy manifold,the heat riser in the engines we used to dirt track were filled up with alium.To help keep the fuel cooler.Ithink if your looking for a dependable engine id stay with the motor home style,after all they were built to be super reliable

    Im sorry the passage im talking about is on the front ? ,of the intake................YG

    What does the passage do/lead to? Thermostat housing or what?

    About what I figured, but asked in case I was missing something. Can't tell from pics if they look like a match or not.

    I realize this is an old thread, but do/did your heads have the huge 18mm(Ford) plugs like ones I have here.

    Best 318 bang for the buck is to use an early J head, LD340, a cam shaft spaced out on the old 68 340 4 speed motor.

    Done this back in the early 90's with an RV cam that came real close to the stock 340 cam. Best running 318 that I ever owned.
