Looking for pic of the bracket or ? For tv cable from trans to one barrel carb on motor. Since they never put a 2004r trans behind a 250 chevy I've heard it being done but don't know what bra ket has been made to have a barrel stock linkage.

Do NOT rely on the geometry of ANY aftermarket bracket. I have never found one thats correct out of the box.
To set up the TV correctly you need to pull the pan off the trans and check the travel. You cannot determine throttle valve travel externaly as the valve spring has less resistance than the crank return spring so there is no "feel"
Use the geometry as shown in the above post as a starting point.

I know this from bitter experience!

This is a mock up i did on a 4 barrel.

What 29 Gizmo said is super important! The geometry of that bracket is critical. I really like the use of that trans. I wish I had put one in my car. Super light, compact and durable if setup correctly.

Pffft, put a 4 speed in it and be cool like everybody else!!! Plus then you'll have an excuse not to ever drive it! :D

This is a short video showing how a correct TV cable adjustment should look in the trans.

Thank you all. I doing a new motor in my 54 hudson. I have a th350 in there now with 3.08 gears just like to have something I can get out on the highway and cruise 75 80. I ran it to bonneville couple years back for speed week ran great but coming from Washington speeds are 65 70 once out of wells Nevada speeds where 80 i didn't want to run the piss out of the old motor I put in it.tv cable bracket and adjust meet is all that holds me up now.

3.08 at 75 mph? you can drive as much as you want....I just finished a 5300 mile trip in my 62 Vette with that gearing, with a Muncie 4 speed, no overdrive...the 327 just hummed right along at close to 3000 rpm. Like it was designed to do that. Which it indeed was.

  11. just asking, if you run a over drive behind a inline 6 won't it lug the engine and keep it out of it's power band while in over drive?

Yup. With this combo, the rear gear should be about 4.11:1, depending on the weight of the vehicle, tire diameter, etc.

I have a few customers running 250's, with overdrive transmissions. Each has a 4.11:1 gear in the rear.

It gives better off-the-line performance, and better top end mileage.

I’m thinking the Chevy straight six engines are more lug, less rev engines.

The 194, 230, & 350 will rev when they are set up right. When I first put the 250 in my 48 and it had about 90K that was put on it in a 74 Pontiac Ventura it cruised right along at 70+ with the 3 speed and unknown to this day rear gear rato with 255-60 15 rear tires.
The 292 sitting on the stand for it now gets a few goodies including a cam and 4 barrel and cast headers. 3.5 gears and a .7 overdrive.

I found out in Nevada, Wyoming and the other 80 mph on the big roads states that depending on the car 80 may not be where you want run for best gas mileage though. On a 5K road trip we found that 74/75 gave about 6 mpg better than 80 did. That car was happy as hell at 95 though and just drank a lot more gas when it got over 75.
When I had the 283, M21 4 speed, 3.o8 gears and N-50 14 tires on the 48 it ran along at 3000 at 80 on my RAC tach. That setup loved 80 mph but wouldn't pull a sick ***** off a pot in low gear.

    I’ve chose a T5 behind a 261 with 3.73 rear in a ‘38 Master sedan. Considered the 200R, maybe next time

  16. I always used a th350 bracket. They were the same between my three speed and 2004r cars

This past spring I switched from a T5 5-speed to a 2004R and this combo runs really well. The engine seems to "prefer" it to the 5 speed. Purrs right along. This is behind a I6 Chevy 292, bored 30 over with a cam and 4 bbrl carb.
There is no lack of torque on these motors, almost too much. 373 rear end gears and 6.00-16 tires.

Reason I'm wanting to put overdrive Is for the 80mph as we do hot august nights and bonneville. We come out of washington state

I have a th350 In there now I was wondering if some adjustments and the stock bracket would work

  20. Yeah back in my g body days I had no issues using a th350 bracket on 2004r. Even compared an Olds 2004r bracket to an olds th350 bracket....iirc they even had the same part number

I hope this helps. I made the bracket myself. Not the greatest of efforts but apparently it works.
