Knowing 4th qtr profits.... you may find buying in Jan or May might have heavier cans.

Speaking of body filler, we used to use Alco Chromate... stuff was amazing, but if you didn't shape it soon, it was the hardest filler, needed a body filler file to cut it down. We then used a lighter filler to top it. I made entire windshield, and lower Chevelle rear window areas out of fiberglass and filler. we had no metal skills.

    It certainly does.

You still see a gallon. You don't get a gallon when you buy it anyway.

Went to the big box to get some acetone. One quart would have been enough, $10 and change. A gallon was $21 and change. Couldn't make myself buy that quart. Guess I've got a lifetime supply.

When I was a kid, momma got 5 loaves of bread for a dollar. Today I paid $5.49 for one loaf
When I was a senior in high school. 1968. I took a dollar to McDonalds, got a burger, fries and a coke...and got change back.

Many days supper was 2 cheese burgers and a shake, 75 cents. Would have to set the shake on the dash, tilted into the windshield, and turn the defroster on to thin it enough to go though the straw.

So we know what a gallon of water weighs. How much does a gallon of filler weigh? Someone would have to do some wizardy with like-volume samples. Not me;)

Bottom line,,you buy a can of this, bag of that, if you don’t like the price for what you paid for either, start shopping around.

Yep, and I made $1.75 an hour then. Doing slightly better now. Enough that I don't, very thankfully, have to worry what a Big Mac costs. Except that it's crap I I won't buy them , even if was the 25 cent shake, 15 cent burger and 10 cent fires of my youth.

Back before they went metric, the contents on a fifth of liquor was listed on the label as 4/5 quart rather than 1/5 gallon. Both the same thing really, but as you said, the label showed it as a fifth short of a quart.

A friend of mine used his Mom’s flour and paint for filler many years ago.

  20. I never said I don’t have to worry about anything, but I don’t worry about a can that doesn’t say anywhere on it that it contains a quart doesn’t have a quart in it. Instead I go work on old cars.

o_OYou been hanging out with Sasquatch or what ;)? When I take off my boots so I can add something up, I never get more than 5 toes per foot. I do have a wide foot, but even so:confused:.

If you're married, keep an eye on your wife's fingernail polish remover. That little 16 oz. bottle of acetone that she buys for $5.50 plus tax is the exact same stuff you just paid $21.00 for. When her bottle gets low, just top it off from your gallon. You can fill her bottle up 4 times and still have half a gallon left. Another example of how the stuff in your garage is saving your wife money ;). You're welcome :).
