I’m back! Less one appendix. While I was out I had a dream about bias ply tires and dual point distributors. I asked the doctor if that was normal, he said no, but traditional.

Bill; Just be glad (maybe) that it was your appendix & not a bit lower!!!
Change your brand of brain reducers. I like TEQUILA made from MOTHER NATURE natural plants.

The surgeon made a crack about what i was in there for, something about being able to play from the ladies tee when done. Fortunately for me The Truth remains.

They released me and I’m home vegging. Thank you all for your concern. I got a truck to finish.

I was rummaging around the storage bldg. & came across a pair of 39 trunk supports with these attached.
Shoulder bolts 1'x3/8' with 1/2' shoulder. Washers are 1" round O D, the hole is 1/2'. I would be willing to divorce them from the supports if these are what you need. Nut on the right has holes, I don't know what for? hefty, little ****er.

I have those stainless hinges. At the pivot points, one was loose and the other was binding a little but I could still move it. I’d try some anti seize on the joints. Maybe whack the stud to loosen it and then throw a tack on the back side so you won’t **** it down when you tighten them up.

Mighty kid of you Bob but what I am contending with are the studs at the moment. My hood to hinge bolts look a lot like that and are drilled for wire. I really appreciate the offer!

That is exactly what I am thinking! Loosen up the hinge point and weld in the studs.

You can't keep me down buddy. I am feeling a ton better today and if my wife wasn't here I would likely find a few shop hours of light duty work. I think she took my shop key off my key ring! Tricky girl.

...If any of you gentlemen ever visit Ottawa way...let me know...I'd love to share some time together over a beverage...I don't care if it's coffee...the magic would be the handshake and conversation...the only arms I have have been attached to me for quite some time now...it's all I've needed, truth is I've been your way a few times and I noted some differences but all my encounters were cordial and I enjoyed the moments for what they were...I'm sure you'd find your northern cousins stomping grounds similar we just say eh a lot...:p...maybe a few ums too...but we all like old cars so I've already been in your garages chatting here while trying to keep up with stuff that can be out of my league but I get what I get and enjoy the magic that appears before you after all the sparks and pitter pattering...Grand I say! All I can say is I'm glad Ryan created this giant that the Hamb is...back to you Brothers and Sisters...glad you're having a speedy recovery Bandit...Jim may have made it but you were in and out so fast...At least he got the Hotrod broke in and dialed...;)

That would be a lot of fun Marty. I don't live far from most of the Poks, maybe you could drop by and I'll show you my shop. It doesn't have meat cleavers or machinery, just a home builders' garage where a lot of fabrication is done on the floor.

I'm back Stogy and feeling my oats today. Still taking the pain meds but mainly because I like them, and they recommended not drinking for a while as things heal up :D

I can't lift anything for a while but I'm back to the garage at least. While I was down I researched the Portland Roadster Show and it will be the weekend of March 15/16/17 in 2024. That gives me a couple months to get serious about finishing the truck and a month to detail it.

I had some friends drop by today to final fit the hood and then remove it. I am happy to say that it pops off like a high school buy after prom with the hinges still attached to the hood. This will be the method to install it once painted. Thanks to @40FORDPU and others for the advice on how they were originally ***embled. This will make the wiring of the hinge bolts a hellova lot easier than on the truck (if that is even possible).

I will start prepping the hood including some reinforcement around the front where they like to crack out and get it ready for paint. @Pist-n-Broke took the hinges home with him to perform the necessary surgery as we went over above. It is pretty easy to see what they need, loosed the pivot point, then weld the studs to the bracket so they will not close the pivot point when torqued down.

Now I can turn my attention to the radiator support backets which will need a little adjustment and welding to fit them to the radiators new position which is about 1-1 1/2" back toward the Hemi from it's original location which was just a guess on my part. The only things that required change was the upper radiator hose and I need to move the top of my recovery bottle a half inch back to clear the fan shroud. This is why I had not made those brackets just yet. I had left enough gap between the fan and core for this adjustment, so the fan fits a bit tighter but still has an inch and a bit for movement and flex.

I need to finish the bed which I shall do this week I hope, paint and polish the hood, schedule a pinstriper (I think February at the latest, and prepare for the show. Time to call Mitch.

    Got wood?
    Yep!
    upload_2023-11-20_17-48-0.png
After much debate this is what my wife and decided on
    upload_2023-11-20_17-48-45.png
The color is dark for yellow oak and not easily achieved. Walnut brown and a lot of black.
    upload_2023-11-20_17-49-32.png
The finish is spar varnish, one coat rolled on then sanded, and another coat thinned and sprayed. A small bit of flattening agent was used but it is difficult to tell.
    upload_2023-11-20_17-50-36.png
I will begin the installation next, I am hoping it will be enjoyable, but I am prepared for frustrating.

He actually told me today he is in. I told him I wanted some old school panel stripes on my gloss black paint and he couldn't say yes fast enough!
I sourced a 41 ford tailgate tonight to make into my show car sign! Stoked about that!

    Mmmm, Icing.
I won't lay eyes on the tailgate until early December when the seller returns home form vacation, but I am hoping it won't need a ton of work. Be kinda cool to just letter it and clear coat it. Cool garage shop wall hanger when it is done at the show.

This is my wife's Christmas tree in my bar this year, the truck tree. The big wood ornaments with trucks are easy to pick out.
    upload_2023-11-20_21-14-21.png
But she also made smaller ones fr0m pictures from my phone and little frames she found at hobby lobby.
    upload_2023-11-20_21-15-39.png
She is quite the little elf.
    upload_2023-11-20_21-16-16.png
And yes, it is bit early this year
    upload_2023-11-20_21-17-3.png
But she had some scheduled surgery in December so she wanted to get this done ahead of time.
I allowed it for that reason only....and I love the way she decorates!
